 INTELLIGENCE represents an individual’s capacity for
constructive thinking, reasoning and problem solving,
research has shown that Intelligence ( IQ) ( as well as
personality also is a function of environmental influences
 Key MENTAL ABILITY 
Charles Spearman in 1927 : all cognitive performance
is determined by 2 types of ability ( General mental ability and “task
at hand” ) , means that individual’s ability to complete crossword
puzzle is a function of his or her broad mental ability and the specific
ability to perceive patterns in partially completed words
 Empirical study found that some combination of better schooling,
improved economic status, healthier nutrition and a more
technologically complex society might account for gains in IQ scores
