Aman Gupta: Co-founder and


CMO of BoAt
Aman Gupta was born in 1982 in Delhi, India. He
completed his schooling at Delhi Public School, R.K.
Puram and graduated from Delhi University in
Commerce (Honors). He did his CA from ICAI. Aman
completed his MBA from the Indian School of Business
and Finance.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Aman Gupta ultimately co-founded boAt in


2016 with Sameer. He also co-founded Imagine
Marketing India, which became the parent
company of boAt. Aman Gupta served as a
judge during Season 2 of Shark Tank and is also
the first entrepreneur to walk the red carpet at
Cannes in 2023.
Start-up Story
The founders wanted to create
a lifestyle brand, which would bring
fashionable audio products and
accessories for the millennials. Boat is
the brainchild of this idea. The
company began its journey as a cable
manufacturer and seller, which had
rapidly expanded its categories to
serve over 800,000 customers, as
reported in 2020. Boat started as a
bootstrapped startup with a capital of
around Rs 30 Lakhs that came
from the founders.

Aman Gupta once shared that he had begun and shut five organizations before
work started on boAt and said since he was young, he was eager to start up.

1. Production during COVID-19

According to co-founder Aman Gupta, the startup’s availability and


production of new and existing products were critical during the
pandemic. Almost 99 percent of the headphones that are sold in
India, including those that cost more than INR 500, are made outside
the country mainly in China

BoAt is an excellent illustration of a bootstrapped startup because it


began with Rs. 30 lakhs, which the company’s founders themselves
raised. BoAt is known for its top-notch items, at a moderately lower

boAt has an agile business model and poses a constant focus on

diversifies its product offering to provide technology solutions. For
instance, At first, they noticed a problem with the iPhone’s charging
cable as it used to break due to the low quality, so they began selling
strong charging

brands. So it was a task to stand out and make people see the
difference. To promote both the brand and the products boAt picked
famous cricketers Rishab Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, and
Shreyas Iyer. BoAt has also promoted its products in Lakme Fashion
Week in 2019 and established itself as a lifestyle brand rather than
an electronic brand

Future Plans of BoAt

The company believes that there is always a


trend of buying earphones along with new
smartphones. boAt finds this concept to be a
channel of success for them. According to the
reports, the major phone makers are in the
process of stitching new relations with audio
companies. For example - Samsung has got JBL
and Harman, Apple has Beats, and so on. These
manufacturers are attracting consumers with
hot deals so that the users don't buy
earphones or headphones separately.
