● Computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) refers to the
pervasive use of computer systems through out the
organization, not only to monitor and control the operations,
but also to design the product, plan the manufacturing
processes, and accomplish the business functions related to
production

Manufacturing Planning
Manufacturing planning is concerned with

specifications that defne the product design
into a plan for producing the product.
Manufacturing Control
03 Manufacturing control includes not only
control of the individual processes and
equipment in the plant, but also the
supporting functions such as shop fl oor
control
Business Functions
The business functions include order entry,

activities related to manufacturing.
