Atmospheric pressure

Group Activity by Hamdan, Nihal, Kevin, Sufiyan

Definition
 Force exerted by the weight of the atmosphere over a unit area is
termed as atmospheric pressure.
 Since air occupies space and has weight, it exerts pressure on the
surface of the Earth
 The atmospheric pressure extends up to 300 kilometres above the
surface of the earth.
Adaptions
Our bodies are well adapted to the enormous atmospheric
pressure and can withstand it without any problem. Our
bodies are not crushed by atmospheric pressure because the
pressure of the air and the fluids in our body balances the
atmospheric pressure acting on us from the outside.
Variation in
Atmospheric
Pressure .
- The atmospheric pressure is
maximum at the surface of earth
goes on decreasing as we go to
higher altitudes in the earth’s
atmosphere
