ABOUT NTPC SIPAT

 NTPC Sipat Super Thermal Power Station, located at Sipat in Bilaspur

district in state of Chhattisgarh celebrates its Founday day on January
28, 2022.
 The power plant is one of the coal based power plants of NTPC. The
foundation stone of NTPC Sipat was laid on 2002, January 28, and
established as the largest power station situated in Bilaspur with the
installed capacity of 2980 MW.
 It consist two stages, stage one which got commissioned late was of 3
units of 660 MW each involving super-critical boilers technology and
stage two consisted of 2 units of 500 MW each. PM Manmohan Singh
inaugurated the Sipat Thermal Power Plant on September 20, 2013.
INTRO OF E-MOBILITY

 Electric mobility comprises all street vehicles that are powered by an

electric motor and primarily get their energy from the power grid i.e e-
cars , e-scooters, e- bikes ,e-bus etc.

 This includes purely electric vehicles, vehicles with a combination of

electric motor and a small combustion engine (range extended electric
vehicles – REEV) and hybrid vehicles that can be recharge via the
power grid (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles – PHEV).
ADVANTAGES OF E MOBILITY
 Release no to less Co2 and other green house gasses
to the atmosphere

 Use electricity as fuel so no burning of fossils

 Eco friendly and cost efficient due its electronics

component and battery
COMPONENTS OF EVEHICLES

 TRACTION BATTERY PACK - Also know as Electric Vehicle Battery

(EVB) . It powers the electric motors of an electric vehicle. The
battery acts as an electrical storage system. It stores energy in the
form of DC current. The range will be higher with increasing kW of
the battery. Its reach is estimated to be about 200,000 miles.

 CHARGE PORT – Connects the electrical vehicle to an external supply. It

charges the battery pack. The charge port is sometimes located in the front
or rear part of the E-Vehicle components
 ELECTRIC MOTOR – Converts the electrical energy into kinetic
energy. This energy rotates the wheels. It has regenerative
breaking mechanism. This mechanism slows down the vehicle
by converting its kinetic energy into some other forms.

 . ON BOARD CHARGER – Used to convert the AC supply

received from charge port into DC supply . It is located and
installed inside the vehicle. It monitors various battery
characteristics and controls the current flowing inside the
battery pack.
 CONTROLLER – Determines the working of an electric car. Performs the
regulation of an electrical energy from batteries to the electric Motors. The
pedal set by driver determines the speed of the car and frequency of variation
of voltage, that is input to the motor. It also controls the torque produced.

 THERMAL SYSTEM – Responsible for maintaining an

operating temperature for the main components of an
EV vehicle, such as electric motor, controller etc. It
functions during charging as well as to obtain maximum
performance. It uses a combination of thermoelectric
cooling, forced air cooling, and liquid cooling.
 DC-DC CONVERTER- The traction pack battery delivers a constant voltage. But different components of
electric vehicle has different requirements. This distributes the output power that is coming from the battery
to a required level. It also provides the voltage required to charge the auxiliary battery.

 AUXILIARY BATTERY – In the absence of main battery, auxiliary battery will

continue to charge the vehicles

 TRANSMISSION- The gear box transfers the mechanical power from the electric
motor to the wheels. The transmission efficiency should be high to avoid power
loss.
POLICIES INITIATIVE IN INDIA
 MINISTRY OF POWER (MoP) --
MoP issued a clarification stating that charging EVs is considered a service meaning that
no license is required to operate EV charging stations.

 MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (MoRTH) --

MoRTH amended Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR) allowing driving licenses to be
given for age group 16–18 years for gearless electric scooters and bikes up to 4
kWh battery size.

 MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (MoHUA) --

MoHUA released an amendment of building code and town
planning rules for provisioning of EV charging stations in private and
commercial buildings

 MINISTRY OF FINANCE --MoF rationalized the customs duty for all categories of
vehicles, battery packs and cells to support Make in India and incentivize uptake of
electric vehicles .
E-MOBILITY PROJECTS IN WORLD
 Electric mobility projects in Africa by UNEP--The UN Environment
Programme with Global Electric Mobility Programme launched a Soot-free
Urban Bus Fleet project in south African countries.

 Electric mobility projects in Asia and pacific region- The UNEP with
government of Srilanka ,Phillipines ,Thailand ,Nepal , India etc launch
Electric Light Duty vehicle with Zero and low-emissions buses in different
cities.

 Electric mobility projects by Private automobile companies- Tesla ,Bosch

global ,TATA global ,Ford etc launched various e-cars and 2 and 3
wheelers whole over the world
E-MOBILITY PROJECTS IN INDIA
 E-Bus Route Prioritization and Implementation Planning--WRI
India with support from the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative
(TUMI) E-Bus Missionhas released the Guidebook to help public and
private transit agencies adopt a calibrated approach to induct electric
buses (e-buses) in their public bus services.

 EV Charging Guidebooks for Delhi– India gov with Development

Commission of Delhi (DDC-D) has released EV charging guidebooks for
corporates, shopping malls and residential societies to accelerate the
adoption of electric vehicles in Delhi.
SCOPE OF E-MOBILITY

 Environmental Concerns: As the world becomes more conscious of

environmental issues and strives to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions, e-mobility provides a sustainable solution.

 Government Initiatives and Policies: Governments worldwide are

introducing supportive policies and incentives to promote e-
mobility. It include subsidies for EV purchases, investment in
charging infrastructure, and regulations to encourage EV adoption

 Technological Advancements: Ongoing advancements in battery

technology are extending the range and reducing the cost of
electric vehicles. Improved energy storage capabilities and the
development of fast-charging battery.
 Integration with Renewable Energy: E-mobility can synergize with
renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power. Electric
vehicles can serve as energy storage devices, allowing surplus
electricity generated from renewable sources to be stored and used
during peak demand periods. This integration will contribute to a
more sustainable and efficient energy ecosystem .

Industry Investments And employment: Automobile manufacturers are

heavily investing in e-mobility. Major players are expanding their electric
vehicle lineups, developing new models, and investing in research and
development to enhance battery performance and charging infrastructure
which also Increase employment.
CHALLENGES OF E-MOBILITY
 High sticker prices
E-cars and other vehicles are a bit costier than normal vehicle.
Its due to high research, developing technologies and production cost of e-vehicles.

 Variations in battery performance

Different electric vehicles are designed with different performance, due to variations in the battery
design. Some electric batteries perform better than others, and this has to be considered as well.

 Higher investment cost

E-mobility requires high investment and massive collaboration. It is not a one-man show; a single
car manufacturing company cannot go at it alone, since they also have to invest on infrastructure,
collaborate with other entities and even governments to make things happen.

 Customer instruction
It takes a lot of time and effort to instruct the customer or the market as a whole, about the guidelines if
evs.
THE FUTURE OF E-MOBILITY

 According to analyses by experts, E-mobility is expected to

undergo a massive boom growing into a US$ 400 billion market
in 2023 globally.

 Harmonization efforts of central government state gov and

private sectors will increase the field of Emobility.
Indeed, the road to full e-mobility is still quite long, and it requires
a lot of patience from all parties involved.

 However, with full dedication and commitment by all parties,

there is no doubt that we will all enjoy the benefits of e-mobility
in the future
