Duties and Responsibilities

of Editorial Staff
Editor-in-Chief
1.Supervises the editorial staff of the paper.
2.Writes the editorials of the organ after consultation with the
members of the editorial staff.
3. Edits all articles preparatory to submission to the adviser for final
editing and approval for publication.
4.Supervise the preparation of the layout of the paper and paging of
the same in cooperation with the managing editor and layout artist.
5.Causes the accomplishments of all assignments properly and on-time.
6. Acts as liaison officer between the editorial staff and the adviser.
7.Calls meeting of the staff in consultation with the adviser.
Associate Editor

1.Edits the articles in cooperation with the editor –in-chief.


2.Writes editorials of the organ when requested.
3.Prepares assignments of section editors in consultation
with the editor-in-chief.
4.Cooperates in the preparation of the layout.
Managing Editor
1.Brings articles to the press for typesetting.
2.Checks articles for typographical errors.
3.Prepares the layout of the campus paper in consultation
with the editor-in-chief.
4.Proofreads galley proofs before these are finally approved
by the chief editor, then by the adviser for printing.
Circulation Manager
1.Keeps files of school information, such as class lists and
lists of homeroom advisers, faculty, and staff members.
2.Has a direct contact to the printing press that will
reproduce the campus paper.
3.Secures financial report of the club.
4.Assists the layout artists to gather and evaluate the
photos subject for publication.
News Editor
1.Assigns reporters to cover events relevant to the school
activities.
2.Writes news articles on assignment from the editor-in-chief
or through her own initiative in consultation with the latter.
3.Edits all news articles received preparatory to submission of
the same to the editor-in-chief then to the adviser.
Science Editor
1.Researches on the current trends and issues of
science, health and technology.
2.Writes and edits science news articles.
Feature Editor
1.Gives out assignments to feature writers.
2.Receives and edits feature articles preparatory to
submission of the same to the editor-in-chief.
3.Writes regular articles or column.
Sports Editor
1.Gives out assignments to reporters to cover sports
events in which the school is a participant.
2.Writes sports articles unassigned to reporters.
3.Edits all sports news articles received preparatory to
submission of the same to the editor-in-chief.
Literary Editor
1.Surveys student outputs in My Composition for
publication.
2.Gives out assignments to literary writers.
3.Edits all literary articles received preparatory to
submission of the same to the editor-in-chief.
Editorial Cartoonist
1.Submits weekly outputs of editorial cartoon
about campus and national issues.
2.Prepare a portfolio of clippings of editorial
cartoons from the newspaper and magazines.
Layout Artist
1.Assigns or causes the assignment of the school’s official
photographer to take pictures on school activities for the month.
2.Prepares pictorial articles of the organ in consultation with the
managing editor and editor-in-chief.
3.Takes charge of the page makeup of the campus paper.
4.Labels or properly identifies all pictures made available for
publication. It is suggested that she writes (in pencil) at the back of
every picture the event to which a particular picture refers.
5.Helps in the preparation of the layout of pictorial stories.
6.Makes illustrations for feature articles.
Photojournalist
1.Submits weekly outputs of photojournalism that
portrays campus and national issues.
2.Coordinates with the layout artists and social
media correspondent.
