 SOUTH CENTRAL RAILWAY(SCR)

was established on October 2nd,1966.
 It was operating in the southern and
central region of the country.
 SCR has 6 divisions,namely
Secunderabad,Hyderabad,Vijayawada
,Guntur,Nanded,Guntakal.
 Its headquarters is in Secunderabad.

 ETTC(Electric Traction Training Centre)
 RRI( Route Relay Interlocking)
 OFC(Optical Fiber Communication)
 IOH(Coach Care Centre) and Engine depts.
The major services enrolled by the SCR are

Introduction
 Interlocking in railways refers to a safety
system that ensures the proper sequencing
and coordination of signals, switches, and
other railway elements.
 It prevents conflicting movements of
trains, thereby reducing the risk of
collisions and accidents. When a train is
scheduled to move from one track to
another, the interlocking system ensures
that the track is properly aligned and signals
are appropriately set to allow safe passage.
 This technology is crucial in maintaining
the safety and efficiency of
railway operations.
Interlocking
Interlocking is classified into two,namely
1. Route Relay Interlocking(RRI)
2. Panel Interlocking(PI)

 Working

 The working principle of interlocking in

railways is to ensure safe and efficient train
movement by coordinating the operation of
signals, points (switches), and other safety-
critical devices.
 Interlocking is a system that prevents
conflicting movements, such as two trains
occupying the same track or crossing paths,
by using mechanical or electronic
mechanisms to establish dependencies
between different elements along the track.
