Types of Sentences according to the Aim of Communication.

• The declarative sentence type is used for making a statement;


Jessica likes history lectures.
• The interrogative type is used to ask a question;
Did he play on a basketball team?
• Imperative sentences are used to tell somebody to do something
(i.e. give a command or an order);
Do not attend these lectures!
• The exclamatory type is used to express (e.g. surprise).
What an excellent idea it was to throw him a surprise party!
Word Order in a Declarative Sentence

Interrogative sentence
