ACTIVITY
PRE TEST:
What is a
quadrilateral?
Different types of
quadrilaterals?
LEARNING OBJECTIVE
• To analyse and evaluate cyclic
quadrilateral and its properties
• To apply in real life context
INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY

1.Draw a circle of any radius on a white paper with centre

O.
2.Take any four points A, B, C, D on the circumference of
both the circles.
3.Join AB, BC, CD, DA by paper folding on the both the
circles
What does it form?.
4. Make a straight line on white paper sheet. Place cut outs
of ∠A and ∠C adjacent to each other on a straight line and
paste them.
What do you observe?
CONCEPT DETAILS: CYCLIC QUADRILATERAL
AND ITS PROPERTIES
Real Life Application
There was a circular park
in a colony. For fencing
purpose, poles A, B, C and
D were erected at the
circumference of the park.
Wires were tied from A to
B, B to C, and C to D. A
rope was tied from pole D
to A temporarily. It was
found that ∠A=100º and
∠D=80º.
what is the value of angle
ABC?

Cyclic quadrilaterals
are useful in various
types of geometry
problems, particularly
those in which angle
chasing is required.
If a cyclic quadrilateral is a
parallelogram, then what kind of
parallelogram will it be?
In a residential colony , there was one CONCEPT ACTIVITY
circular ground. RWA members
decided that there should be a skating
area available in circular ground so Find the values
that the children have opportunity to of <A and <B.
excel themselves in skating. For that
purpose they chose 4 points A,B,C & D
and fenced the area

Suppose in the circular ground, AE is drawn

parallel to CD and BA is produced to F. If
<ABC=92º, <FAE=20º, find <BCD

1) What is the measure of <x?

2) What is the measure of <y?
3) What is <B?
4) What kind of quadrilateral is ABCD?
PLENARY & AFL
Find the measure of the
opposite angles of a cyclic
quadrilateral if one of them In the given figure, ∆DEF is an
is 11/4 of the other: isosceles triangle with DE = DF
and ∠DEF = 60°. Find ∠EAF:
(i) 48°, 132°
(ii) 29°, 132°
(iii) 48°,264°
(iv) none of these

There was a circular park in a defence colony

at Delhi. For fencing purpose, poles A,B,C
and D are installed at the circumferenc of the
park. Ram tied the fences from A to B, B to C
& C to D. He managed to measure <A=100
and <D=80. Find <B & <C.
ASSIGNMENT

ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral in which BC is parallel to

AD, ∠ADC =110°, ∠BAC = 50°. Find ∠DAC
