What are Stress Proteins?

 Stress proteins are a diverse group of proteins

that are synthesized at increase levels
whenever the cells are exposed to a stressful
stimuli.
 They exhibit protective effects against
stresses.

D-19

1st reported as characteristic

cotyledonary proteins in cotton. GROUP 2
D-11

Hydrophilic in nature and are LEA GROUP 3

Group 4
Found to be abundant during D-95
maturation and desiccation phase
of seed development. Group 5

3. OSMOTIN PROTEIN
An alkaline protein firstly found in
tobacco.

RAB Proteins
 It is found in rice plants in response to
ABA(Abscisic Acid) or water stress.
 It is 16kDa protein with basic cytosolic glycine
rich residue.
