Portfolio Task One: Reflective Writing
In your group, write down a list of all of
the kinds of writing that you have done in
your life up until now….
Reflective writing

Reflection is….

The action or process of thinking carefully or deeply about a particular

subject, typically involving influence from one’s past life and experiences.

Oxford English Dictionary (2012)

The trouble with many of us, and with our
culture as a whole, is that we don’t take the
time to ‘relate’, to connect publicly and
formally but meaningfully with others.

We don’t take the time to meet one to one

with others, to hear their interests and
dreams and fears, to understand why people
do what they do or don’t do what they don’t
do.

Informal, Non-Formal, and Formal
Education
Are all aspects of our lives really shaped by schooling
and education?

Can you think of a part of social life that is not really

shaped by schooling and education?

Or, in even this part of social life, that we might

think of as being totally separate from school, still
shaped significantly by schooling and education?
