How we travel: What is a Nacelle?
The engine nacelle is consists of:

• Skin
• Cowling
• Firewall
• Engine mounts
The skin and cowling is usually made of:

Aluminum Alloy
Magnesium

Stainless Steel Titanium


Regardless of the material used, the skin is
usually attached to the framework using
Rivets.
The framework is consists of the lengthwise and
widthwise members similar to the fuselage.
Engine mount
The engine mount is attached to the
firewall, and the engine is attached
to the mount.
Wheel well
The part of the aircraft that receives
or enclose the landing gear.
Cowling
Refers to any part of the aircraft (or
engine nacelle) which can be opened
or removed that can give access to
the engines, accessory sections,
engine mount and the firewall areas.
