ABSTRACT
• This report offers a comprehensive overview of my architecture
internship at Bereket Samuel Building Consultant. Spanning from July
to October 2023, I had the opportunity to work closely with a team of
professionals on various architectural projects. The internship aimed to
provide practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the field. The
report covers the tasks I undertook, such as architectural design and
3D modeling, and highlights the skills I developed, including
proficiency in software and effective communication. It also discusses
the challenges faced, strategies employed, and the overall impact on
my personal and professional growth. This internship has undoubtedly
prepared me for a successful career in architecture.
EXCUTIVE SUMMERY
• This report provides a comprehensive overview of my architecture
internship at MAGER ARCHITECTS DESIGN STUDIO. It covers the
process of joining the company, the projects I worked on, and the
valuable lessons learned. It also includes information about the host
company, BEREKET SAMUEL BUILDING CONSULTANT, its background,
workflow, organizational structure, and objectives.

• This report summarizes a 12-week internship at Bereket Samuel
Building Consultant, an Engineering, Architectural, and Consultancy
firm. It discusses the learning goals set before the internship, the roles
of an Architect in a professional setting, and provides a detailed
description of the company. The report outlines the tasks performed
during the internship and concludes with an assessment of whether
the goals were met and the benefits and drawbacks of the
experience. Images of the work performed are included at the end of
the report.

own and that I have successfully completed my internship at Bereket
Samuel Building Consultant from July 17th to October 6th, 2023.

Bereket Samuel Building Consultant is a growing architectural,
engineering, and consultancy firm in Copenhagen, established in 2013.
With a team of around 3 professionals, including architects and
engineers, they handle diverse projects ranging from renovations to
multi-storey homes and summer houses. The company's roles within
projects vary, from acting as consultants to overseeing the entire
process, from concept to construction.

Mager Architects Design Studio is an architecture firm founded in 2007 E.C by
Bereket Samuel, and has since remained committed to delivering excellence in
design and client satisfaction. The firm has grown significantly, now
employing four full-time employees, and utilizes outsourced resources to
ensure the highest quality of work. Despite its growth, Mager Architects
Design Studio remains dedicated to maintaining its original vision and values.
The firm's strategic approach allows it to tap into a diverse pool of talent and
expertise, enhancing its ability to deliver innovative and tailored solutions to
clients. Mager Architects Design Studio is poised to continue its growth and
make a lasting impact in the field of architecture.

The manager and the lead architect planner of the firm, Bereket samuel
obtained his architecture and urban planning degree from the Arba
Minch University.

• The role of an Architect
The roles of the Architect seemed to vary from day to day within the
company. They perform many roles within the company from site
registrations, building reports, site meetings, consultancy, work
specifications, and drawings for the project. Simplifying the process for
a smooth execution.
INTRODUCTION
• Architects spend time on-site, attending meetings, conducting building
surveys, and ensuring project progress. They then address issues, write
reports, and communicate with clients in the office.
• As a substitute for an Architect, I was unable to fully perform site
meetings, reports, specifications, and energy calculations, but
remained busy with diverse tasks.

• Materials and Methodology
Throughout the project, I have employed various methodologies to
ensure successful outcomes for 6 mixing projects in SketchUp 2018 and
Revit 2021 and also Lumion for rendering. These tailored
methodologies have allowed me to deliver high-quality architectural
designs that meet client expectations. By exploring new ideas and
techniques, I have achieved unique and innovative designs. The use of
effective methodologies has been crucial in delivering successful
results.

• Learning Goals:
1. Understand how WCU subjects relate to industry.
2. Learn about Energy Reports and use them for drawings.
3. Create Building Reports and document project progress.
4. Enhance skills in Revit, Autocad, Lumion, and Photoshop.
5. Gain experience in Consultancy and Communication within the
construction industry.
During my internship, I achieved most of the work tasks and learning
goals I set out to accomplish. I had continuous communication with the
employee, who ensured I was happy with my roles. I gained a clearer
understanding of the construction process in Ethiopia and improved my
drawing skills. Overall, the education at WCU prepared me well for
working in a construction company, but there are areas that could be
improved, such as lectures on standard construction procedures and
more in-depth engineering calculations.
• Conclusion
- Chose to work for a smaller company in Ethiopia
- Learned a lot from colleagues who were willing to share knowledge
- Initially frustrated by lack of involvement in discussions, but learned to ask
questions and push for involvement
- Improved understanding of the construction industry
- Need to work on being more confident with acquired knowledge
- Successful internship, learned a lot and helped the company
- Enjoyed the experience and open to future opportunities with the company
