ADJECTIVE CLAUSE

Definition

An adjective clause (also called relative clause) is a multi-word that


includes a subject and a verb that modifies a noun or pronoun. It
almost always come right after the nouns they modify.
Connectors

Who : Subject The boy who is smoking is my friend.

Whom : Object The girl whom he doesn’t love is sad.

Whose : Possessive Noun / pronoun The little girl whose doll was lost is sad.

I bought a new car that is very fast.


Which / that : Thing
I sent a letter which / that arrived three weeks later.

Where : Place I live in the city where I study in.

When : Time The day when I visited the zoo was hot.
Examples :
1. There is the mountain that we are going to climb.
2. Daniel, who was late again today, sits next to me in English.
3. That is the reason why I couldn't meet you.
4. I bought an IPhone which is really expensive.
5. These are the students who are going.
6. Those are the students for whom I bought the tickets.
7. The carpets that you bought last year have rotted.
8. We are expecting days that will melt the tarmac.
