ALBERT BANDURA'S

SOCIAL LEARNING
THEORY
Albert Bandura's social learning
theory suggests that
observation and modeling play
a primary role in how and why
people learn. Bandura's theory
goes beyond the perception of
learning being the result of
direct experience with the
environment.
Social learning theory allows
educators to take this knowledge of
children's thought processes and
apply them to the classroom in ways
that engage students. Moreover, it
uses knowledge about their behavior
to give teachers the tools to
overcome their barriers to learning.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES
OF SOCIAL LEARNING
THEORY
Albert Bandura As the creator of the
concept of social learning theory,
Bandura proposes five essential
steps in order for the learning to take
place: observation, attention,
retention, reproduction, and
motivation.
HOW THE ENVIRONMENT
REINFORS AND
PUNISHES MODELING
The learner needs to pay attention. If he or she is
distracted, it will probably affect the quality of
learning. Being focused on the task at hand becomes
the first step for retaining the information and getting
to acquire the knowledge. In this way, the behaviour
that we are trying to imitate has to grab our attention,
so that no external factors become distractions.
