Neem tree(Azadirachta indica) leaves:

Efficacy as resistor to Ctenocephalides

canis
INTRODUCTIO
N
Flea has been, indirectly, one of the protagonists in the history of
man. As one of the vectors of Yersinia pestis, the etiological agent
of black death or plague contributed to the death of millions of
people over the centuries
In connection to this, fleas infestation to dogs must be eradicated
and help the veterinary community to counter flea infestation with
the help of the properties of Azadirachta indica (neem) leaves.

This study will set out to view and examine on how the constituent
properties of the Azadirachta leaves to be potent and an effective
eradicator of Ctenocephalides canis.
OBJECTIVE
To critically examine the efficacy of Azadirachta properties against
Ctenocephalides canis

To investigate and identify the duration on how the

Ctenocephalides canis will resist to the Azadirachta properties

MATERIALS
• 200 grams Neem leaves
• 1500 ml distilled water
• Strainer
• Jar container
• Dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis)
• Petri dish

SOLUTION
MATERIALS
Preparation and Method of Neem Leaves
Extraction
Set the pot in the heat with 1500 ml purified water fill it with
200 grams fresh neem leaves
Boiled it up to 15 minutes in medium heat
Preparation and Method of Neem Leaves
After 20 minutes, getExtraction
a strainer and pour the extract in the jar
container
Then place extract in a refrigerator to avoid deterioration and
contamination.
Application of Neem Leaves Extract
• Cut a circle filter paper to suit the petri dish and place it inside
• One treatment has two replications
• Place 10 dog fleas in each replication
• Spray 3 times in each replication
• Observe the test insects for 24 hours and 48 hours

RESULT
In these result, it can be concluded that the mortality rate
is mainly due to the different extract dose applied and the
exposure time. The dose of the neem leaf extract has an
increasing effect in its activity and the duration after
treatment indicates the quality of extract applied that
observed in the mortality. The mortality rate stabilized
following treatment, proving the efficacy of the neem
leaves extract, which caused significant mortality and
disturbed the behavior of the dog fleas.
SUMMARY AND
SUMMARY
CONCLUSION
In this study, the researchers tested the efficacy of
Azadirachta properties against Ctenocephalides canis and
observed the duration on how long the Ctenocephalides
canis will resist Azadirachta properties with different
treatments and control. All treatments and control have
shown greater and lesser effect on the dog fleas. The pure
extract of the neem leaves caused a mortality rate of
almost 100%. The result showed an interesting
perspective of the effectiveness of neem leaves extract
The end.
