OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
The instrument as the interface between operator and vehicle , provide
driver with following necessary information:
1. Operation data such as vehicle speed, engine speed, fuel level, mileag
e
2. Warning and status such as engine failure, overheat, charging failure,
AWD etc.)
3. Digital information of tire pressure and fuel consumption in LCD

It is an essential parts for the automobile, agricultural trucks or high-en

d sedans are all equipped with instruments, different instrument has diff
erent configurations.

OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
Tunland instrument, as a representative of the new generation of aut
omotive instrument, got the characteristics of CAN line, 3D dashboar
d effects and two- stepping motor drive.

The charm and attraction appearance not only makes driving one mor
e significance other than a tool, but also become a part of comfortable
life.
Accurate and reliable vehicle running information is directly related to
driving safety. The instrument indicates various dynamic indexes while
driving, so that drivers can aware operation of all the systems.

OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
Communication protocol of TUNLAND combined instrument is ISO11
898, communication is as follows:

TUNLAND, as a part of new generation CAN line, has function that back
up entire BCM information when maintaining BCM to facilitate information
configuration for new BCM.

OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
According to TUNLAND automobile configuration, TUNLAND combined i
nstrument can be divided into manual petrol, auto petrol, manual diesel a
nd auto gasoline. Currently we only develop manually combined instrume
nt.

OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
1 Mileage accumulation:
Total mileage is calculated based on speed frequency signal of ABS or ESP’s CA
N information. Total mileage range shown is from 0 to 999,999 km, no zero adding
before the number. Reserve accuracy of total mileage in EEPROM memory is (±
1) km.
When ABS or ESP is online, instrument will get number signal pulses from all-whe
el speed sensors through ABS or ESP’s CAN network. Instruments calculate mile
age based on left rear and right rear wheel speed pulse signal sent by ABS. if bot
h wheel speed pulse signals are valid, then calculate mileage through both signals;
if one of these two signals is invalid, then calculate mileage by the other valid sign
al. In case of CAN offline, instrument will obtain the number of pulses from speedo
sensor on the transmission to calculate mileage.

OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
The total mileage can be cleared only in case total mileage is less than 256 km,
but this operation can only be made once (applicable for before selling to user).
Total mileage is stored in combined instrument. Instrument can store the value’s
upper limit to 999,999 km and can store up to 10 years. If the stored total mileag
e is incorrect, instrument displays “Error”
Total mileage reset :Press the reset button, turn ignition on, hold down the
reset button more than 20s. And the odometer will be reset to 0. (only onc
e)
2 Mileages Subtotal:
Sub-total mileage is calculated according to speed sensor frequency signal off
of CAN line from ABS or ESP. Sub-total mileage will be displayed while ignitio
n on, display range is from 0 to 999.9 km without zero adding before it.
Instrument has two sub-total mileages, that is A and B, which can be switched
through reset push-button operation.
OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
Sub-total mileage accuracy is 0.1 km. At any time, users can press mileage su
b-total button for more than 3s to clear sub-total mileage.
If ABS or ESP is Online, Subtotal mileage will be read from ABS or ESP. If ABS
or ESP is offline, sub-total mileage will be calculated by the instrument. Sub-tota
l mileage will be saved in EEPROM with 1km accuracy.
If Kl.30 is disconnected, numbers after the decimal point of all sub-total mileage
will be lost.

OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
3 Fuel consumption information and range:

Instantaneous fuel consumption is shown on instrument with a scale bar, its disp
lay range is 0 to 23, unit is L/100Km.
Instrument’s two average fuel consumption respectively show average fuel cons
umption correspond to subtotal mileage A and B. when subtotal mileage A or B i
s cleared, the corresponding average fuel consumption will also be cleared.
Based on instantaneous fuel consumption and remaining fuel sent by EMS, instr
ument calculates the travel range based on the amount of fuel in the tank. Unit o
f range (distance) is km.

OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
4 Fuel gauge of the instrument
There are 4 fuel tanks proposed for the gauge instrument. (TUNLAND, U201, res
erve 1, reserve 2)
The input signal of fuel consumption meter is resistance signal. Instrument reads
resistance and displays the current fuel level.

OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
Main issues of instrument during trial production is as follows:

1 The combined instrument can not be access by diagnostic tool through OBD di
agnostic port

Possible reason:
• Check whether wire harness is properly connected it can be tested by repla
cing the communication line.

• Software version of combined instrument and the diagnostic tool does not
match, If wire harness is properly connected. Flash the software of combine
d instrument or upgrade software of the diagnostic apparatus.

OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
2 Speed pointer of combined instrument does not move or does not indicate
accurately speed
Reason: the reason for zero speed may be due to problems of combined instrume
nt; or instrument fails to receive instrument‘s speed signal, i.e. speed sensor or A
BS signal got problem.
You can determine source of this problem by replacing instrument or speed senso
r and ABS. If it is due to problem combined instrument, we can use bus test to co
nfirm whether it is software or instrument hardware problems. If it is software prob
lem, we need to flash it; if it is hardware problem, we need to analyze internal spe
ed circuit of combined instrument and find cause and. If it is speed sensor or ABS
problem, then replace sensor.

OVERSEAS OPERATIONS
For inaccurate speed, we need to know whether it is inaccuracy of instrument indi
cation or sensor measurements, and confirm it through bus test.
If instrument indication is inaccurate, we need to calibrate accuracy of instrument’s
speed pointer
If data sent by sensor is inaccurate, generally, we need to replace sensor.

3 Dashboard indicators fail to illuminate, or give an error indication

Reason: confirm the cause through test according to the nature of light. Generall
y, a simple multimeter test or CAN line test tool.
Then check and change the faulted signal circuit as per specific reasons. In addit
ion, we can replace relevant device.
