Những lưu ý khi thêm – ing vào động từ:

Đối với các động từ tận cùng là nguyên âm e, khi thêm -ing sẽ được lược bỏ
e và thêm -ing vào cuối. Ví dụ: use – using, improve – improving, change –
changing…
Đối với các động từ tận cùng là ee, khi thêm – ing sẽ được giữ nguyên: knee
– kneeling…
Các động từ có một âm tiết trong tiếng Anh hoặc 2 âm tiết nhưng trọng âm ở
âm thứ hai, tận cùng là cấu trúc phụ âm – nguyên âm – phụ âm thì phụ âm
cuối sẽ được gấp đôi trước khi thêm – ing: set – setting, bet – betting, sit –
sitting…
Riêng các động từ tận cùng là w, x, y, các phụ âm trong tiếng Anh này vẫn
được giữ nguyên khi thêm – ing: playing, fixing…

STEP 2: Connectors or linking words

 It’s Saturday, so John decided to go cycling.

 Before John got on his helmet, he put on his helmet.
 His parents went out because they wanted to say goodbye to their son.
 While John was riding his bicycle, he saw his classmate, Freddy.
 So, they stopped to talk. And Freddy suggested that they go cycling together in the park.
 When both friends arrived at the park, they saw a lot of people there.
 Then they saw tents, spectators and many more cyclists. There was even a starting
point because there was a cycling competition.
 Freddy wanted to take part in the competition and asked John if he would also like to join
him.
 After that, they asked the organizers, but they said it was too late to join in.
STEP 3: What did the main characters say to each other?

 “Shall we go cycling in the park?” asked Freddy.

 “Great idea!” said John.
 “We’d like to join the competition,” said John.
 “I’m sorry, you can not. It’s too late,” answered the man.
 “Don’t worry! We’ll participate next month,” said John
STEP 4: Have I shown I control the past tenses?

 It’s Saturday. The weather is fine. John decides to go out and ride his
new bicycle. While he is cycling, he sees his classmate Freddy. He is also
riding his bicycle. “Why don’t we go to the park?” asks Freddy.
“Amazing! It’s not far from here,” says John. When they arrive, they see
a crowd. “What are they organizing?” asks Freddy. The friends go closer
and see a starting line and a lot of cyclists who are waiting there. Freddy
wants to take part in the race, but they can’t because it’s too late.
“Let’s see who wins!” says John. “Great idea!” answers Freddy. The first
who arrives at the finishing line is their Maths teacher.
“Congratulations!” says everyone.
Last Saturday, I went to a picnic with my friends.
First, we put the fruits, sandwiches and orange
juice in my bag, then we went. When we arrived at
the camping, we ate on the floor. Then Tom and
Lucy went to the lake. Michel and I saw them.
 One day Sam and Zac were hanging out and walking on the road and they
saw £20. They were so happy. They grabbed the 20 pounds and ran to the
ice cream shop. They ordered two large vanilla ice creams. They ate
their ice creams and continued with their day.
The Smiths had planed to go camping in the forest. They
prepared a lot of camping essentials and drove to the forest.
However, when they reach the destination, they realized
that they had forgotten their tent at home. It was the most
important thing for a camping trip and there was no camping
store over there. Finally, they decided to spend extra money
having a great time in a hotel. It had a swimming pool and
the kids could go swimming there.
