Sanitation
• Is the process of keeping the place clean and
healthy, especially by providing a sewage system
and a clean water supply.
• Proper sanitation promotes health, to help prevent
the spread of illness and disease.
Proper hygiene
• Proper hygiene includes: cleaning your body
every day. Washing you hands with soap
after going to the toilet, brushing your teeth
twice a day, covering your mouth and nose
with tissue when sneezing or coughing .
Do’s and don’ts inside
the laboratory
• Remove any jewelries
• Keep you fingernail short and clean.
• Wear apron and hairnet.
• Wash hands thoroughly with soap.
• Sanitize your counters before and after use with hot
water.
• Wash and dry all tools and equipment before and after
use.
• All clean cloths must be hung after use
• Run around in the laboratory.
• Never dip you finger while tasting you food.
• Do not leave stove unattended.
• Sneeze into food.
• Scratch your body when baking.
• Rub your face,nose and mouth.
• Do not reuse the tools.
• Do not leave dirty counter and unwashed tools
How to sanitize
tools
1. Remove food debris from the tools.
2. Rinse them with water.
3. Use sponge and dishwashing soap.
4. Rinse again.
5. Place the tools in a container.
6. Pour hot water (75° Celsius) into the container.
7. Let the tools sit in the water for atleast 2 minutes.
8. Let them air dry or wipe them dry using clean cloth.
