BANGABANDHU

SATELLITE-1
It is Bangladesh's first geostationary communications satellite. Named
in honor of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, known as "Bangabandhu," the
founding father of Bangladesh.

ROADMAP
1. Project Initiation
The project was initiated by the Bangladesh
Telecommunication Regulatory Commission
(BTRC) in collaboration with Space Partnership 3. Launch Planning
International, LLC, a US-based company.
The original plan was to launch the satellite on an
Arianespace Ariane 5 ECA rocket on December 16,
2017, to commemorate Victory Day in Bangladesh.

(May 12, 2018):

The satellite was successfully launched from


the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA,
on May 12, 2018

2. Formation of Bangladesh Satellite


Company Limited (BSCL): 4. Change of Launch Vehicle
The government established Bangladesh Satellite Company
Due to uncertainties and a lack of a firm guarantee from
Limited (BSCL), formerly known as Bangladesh
Arianespace, the decision was made to opt for the
Communication Satellite Company Limited (BCSCL), to
operate the satellite.
