Community Organizing
ORGANIZING
COMMUNITY
-made up of different persons living in a
definite territory with at least a minimum of
cultural ties based on common values,
interests, goals, system expectations,
concerns, and etc.
ORGANIZATION
-an orderly arrangement of group effort to
provide unity of action in pursuit of common
purpose.
Functional Community
- composed of people who hold common values, share
common functions or express sike common interest such as
education, health, livelihood, labor, welfare or recreation
COMMUNITY ORGANIZING
-a process by which community identify its needs or
objectives, finds the resources to deal with such needs or
objectives, takes action in respect to them, and in so doing
extends and develops cooperative and collaborative attitudes
and practices (Murray G. Ross)
-as a process of “development by the people, of the people
and for the people” (Manalili, 1990)
