NSTP

PROGRAM
LEGAL BASIS of NSTP
The NSTP is a mandated subject for college which
was established by virtue of RA 9163 also known
as the National Service Training Program Act of
2001. As provided in the law, the NSTP is a
program aimed at enhancing civic consciousness
and defense preparedness in the youth by
developing the ethics of service and patriotism
while undergoing training in any of its three (3)
program components
NSTP-CSU Carig, Program Implementation
Based from the IRR of NSTP LAW or RA 9163 are the
following:
 Students, male and female, enrolled
in any baccalaureate and in at least
two (2) year or associate courses, are
required to complete one (1) NSTP
component of their choice, as a
graduation requirement.
Students enrolled in the first semester or for
NSTP 1 shall undergo a common module
phase for 25- hour training period. Subjects
covered are citizenship training, drug
education, disaster risk reduction
management (DRRM), environmental
protection, and other national security
concern.
 Students are free to choose which
particular program component to take.
Its various components are specially
designed to enhance the student’s
active contribution to the general
welfare as prescribed in the NSTP LAW.
The NSTP components are the following:
1. Reserve Officers’ Training Corps’’
(ROTC) – refers to the Program
component, institutionalized under
Sections 38 and 39 of Republic Act No.
7077, designed to provide military
training to tertiary level students in
order to motivate, train, organize and
mobilize them for national defense
preparedness. (Part II Details for ROTC )
2. Literacy Training Service’’ (LTS) –
refers to the Program component
designed to train the students to
teach literacy and numeracy skills
to school children, out-of-school
youths, and other segments of
society in need of their services;

3. Civic Welfare Training Service’’ (CWTS) – refers to the
Program component or activities contributory to the
general welfare and the betterment of life for the
members of the community or the enhancement of its
facilities, especially those devoted to improving
health, education, environment, entrepreneurship,
safety, recreation and moral of the citizenry and other
social welfare services. (delivery of civic welfare and
disaster risk reduction programs and activities.)
The NSTP office administers the
enrollment of the three
components that students
opted for.
 Each of the aforementioned
NSTP components shall be
undertaken for an academic
period of two (2) semesters. It
shall be credited for three (3)
units per semester, for fifty-four
(54) to ninety (90) training hours
per semester.
 NSTP 1 (chosen component) is
a prerequisite to NSTP 2 (same
component), this must be
taken one at a time for an
academic period of two
semesters.
 Any student who has taken
ROTC but wishes to take CWTS
or LTS is allowed to enroll
provided that he/she will
finish CWTS 1 and 2 or LTS 1
and 2 or vice versa.
 A One (1) Summer Program (OSP)
in lieu of the two (2) semester
program may be designed,
formulated, and adopted as
stipulated in the IRR, subject to
the capability of the school and
the AFP to handle the same.
Pursuant to RA 10742 otherwise known Sangunian
Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, All Sanguniang
Kabataan Officials who comply with the prescribed
requirements and in good standing , whether elected
or appointed, shall or during their incumbency, be
exempted from taking the NSTP-CWTS subject.
However Sk Officials shall submit written reports, with
documentation of programs, projects, and activities in
his/her barangay.
 Earned NSTP units shall not
be included in the
computation of the Grade
Point Average (GPA) of
graduating students.
SERIAL NUMBER
Students who had completed or
graduate of NSTP shall be given a serial
number to be indicated in their transcript
of records. CHED will be issuing serial
number for CWTS and LTS graduate, and
ROTC graduate serial number will be
issued by the DND .
Organization of NSTP Graduates
“National Service Reserve Corps”
Graduates of the non-ROTC (CWTS and LTS) components
of NSTP shall belong to National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC)
and maybe mobilized by the state for literacy (LTS) and civic
welfare services (CWTS graduates), specially on DRRM.
The NSRC are classified into two Cathegories
School-Based NSRC Unit (SBNU) refers to the established organization of
students graduates of the CWTS or LTS components of NSTP who are
still enrolled in the university.
Community –Based NSRC Unit-Community-Based NSRC
Reservists Units (CBNRUs). These are units organized at the barangay,
municipal, city and provincial level. Graduates of the CWTS and LTS
components of NSTP who are residents of these respective localities
constitute the membership of the CBNRUs.
***School-Based Ready Reserve Units (SRRU) refers to the
established organization of students or graduates of ROTC components
of the NSTP who are still enrolled in the university.

• Clean and Green (Tree growing,
Propagation, Gardening,
Landscaping, clean-up drive,
and recycling)
• Bloodletting
• Other NSTP-related activities
