TROJAN WAR
The Actual Trojan War
•Took place from about 1260 BC–1250

•Archaeological remains provide
evidence that there was a war but cause

•Scholars believe the war began over
control of the trade route between the
Aegean Sea and the Black Sea between
the Trojans and Greeks
•Ancient mythology states that the war
began over a single woman, Helen,
queen of Sparta
SUMMARY OF THE TROJAN WAR

• 1. In Greek mythology, the Trojan War was waged against the city of Troy by the
Achaeans (Greeks) after Paris of Troy took Helen from her husband Menelaus,
king of Sparta.
• 2. the Trojan War was a historical event of the 13th or 12th century BC, but by the
mid-19th century AD, both the war and the city were widely seen as non-historical.
• 3. The ensuing war lasted 10 years, finally ending when the Greeks pretended to
withdraw, leaving behind them a large wooden horse with a raiding party concealed
inside.
• 4. This version was recorded centuries later; the extent to which it reflects actual
historical events is not known.

SUMMARY
The Trojan War was a war between the Greeks (Achaeans) and the
city of Troy. This all happened after Paris of Troy took Helen from
her husband, the king of Sparta Menelaus. The Trojan War is one
of the most important events to have occurred in Greek mythology
and has been told in many works of Greek literature, the most
notable being Homers Illiad.
The Persian Wars involved a prolonged battle between Greece
and Persia between 429 BC and 449 BC. The wars consisted of
two large Persian invasions and a series of legendary battles. The
main reason for the invasions appears to be the concern of the
security of the western border of the Persian Empire
