DEFINITION OF FOOD HANDLING
QUALITY IN ISLAM
Food handling quality is defined as a standard or
procedures that measure the quality of food safety that
has been stated in Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah.
Hygiene has been given much emphasis in the concept of
halal and it includes various aspects of personal body
cleanliness, clothing, equipment and the working
premises for processing or manufacturing of foods,
drinks and products.

In order to ensure the safety of consumers, the producers
should take necessary steps to comply with Good
Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Hygiene
Practices (GHP).
In Malaysia, the provisions of the legislation, policies
and standards outlined is based on the principles of halal
and halal concept in the Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah.
Islam is strongly emphasis on cleanliness and purity,
spiritually, morally and physically including food and
drink.

between one’s individuality and social life. The Qur’an
instructs Muslims to persistently work whenever and
wherever possible: “Disperse through the land and seek
