INTRODUCCIÓN
In this presentation we will know more about the tectonic plates that exist in the worl,
As we know these plates are in constant motion and it is important to know how it dose
Not affect us and also to know its influence that it has on earthquakes.
Tectonic Plates
¿What are tectonic plates ?
Tectonic plates are a relatively rigid fragment of lithosphere that moves over
the asthenosphere, a relatively plastic área of the upper mantle .
Types of Tectonic plates that exist.
There are two types of tectonic plates in the world: oceanic and continental.
 Ocean plates: those covered entirely by the oceanic crust, that is; the floor of the oceans,
so that they are submerged throughout. They are thin, made up mainly of iron and
magnesium.
 Continental plates: those partially covered by the continental crust, that is, by the
continents themselves, are the most predominant type of tectonic plate and another
submerged in the water of the seas.
Tectonic plate limits.
The movement of the plates creates three types of tectonic limits:
 Convergent limits: where the plates move closer to each other.
 divergent boundaries : where plates move apart .
 Transforming boundaries: where plates move sideways relative to each other.

Tectonic plates in the world
In the world there are the following plates and they are divided into major and minor plates.

Major plates Minor plates

 Nazca plate  Amuria plate
 Caribbean plate  Burma plate
 Pacific plate  Nubian plate
 Antarctic plate  Maoke plate
 Scotia badge  Anatolian plate

How do plate tectonic influence earthquakes
The constant movement between the tectonic plates produces frictions and deformations that
accumulate enormes efforts. When that energy excedes the elastic limit of the rocks, they
fracture suddenly and violently. Thus causing earthquakes.
Conclusion
At the conclusion of this presentation i learned more about tectonic plates,
how many types there are, how much there are in the world, their influence on
earthquakes, l also knew the limits of the tectonic plates that can be divergent,
convergent and transforming.
