OBEY GOD NO

MATTER WHAT

ACTS 5:27-32
•27 And when they had brought
them, they set them before the
council. And the high priest
questioned them, 28 saying, “We
strictly charged you not to teach in
this name, yet here you have filled
Jerusalem with your teaching, and
you intend to bring this man's blood
upon us.”
V.29 But Peter and the apostles
answered, “We must obey God
rather than men. 30 The God of our
fathers raised Jesus, whom you
killed by hanging him on a tree. 31
God exalted him at his right hand as
Leader and Savior, to give
repentance to Israel and forgiveness
of sins.
•32 And we are witnesses to these
things, and so is the Holy Spirit,
whom God has given to those who
obey him.”
INTRODUCTION
• High Priest and Sadducees arrested them
because of Jealousy
• The Apostles were imprisoned because of what
God has done through them
• Help from God arrive through angels and
miraculously they’ve freed from prison
• God helped apostles for them to fulfill their
mission and that mission is to preach Christ.
IF ANY HUMAN
AUTHORITY CAUSES US TO
SIN AND REBEL AGAINST
GOD, LET US REMEMBER
THAT THE HIGHEST
AUTHORITY IS GOD-HIS
WORD
TO OBEY AND SERVE
THE KING OF KINGS IS
A GREAT PRIVILEGE
1. THE COMMAND OF
HUMAN AUTHORITY
•27 And when they had brought them,
they set them before the council. And
the high priest questioned them, 28
saying, “We strictly charged you not to
teach in this name, yet here you have
filled Jerusalem with your teaching,
and you intend to bring this man's
blood upon us.”
•And when they
had brought
them, they set
Questioned them before
the council. And
by the council the high priest
questioned
them,
•“We strictly
charged you not
Charging to teach in this
them not to name, yet here
you have filled
teach about Jerusalem with
Jesus your teaching,
Council’s
•and you intend
Hatred towards to bring this
Jesus man's blood
upon us.”
2 OBEY GOD RATHER
THAN HUMAN
AUTHORITY
High Priest and the Sanhedrin was the
highest authority in Israel at that time
But Peter and the apostles
answered, “We must obey God
rather than men.
Even they •“We strictly
were charged charged you not
not to teach but to teach in this
name, yet here
they’ve you have filled
continue to Jerusalem with
preach your teaching,
When men forbid what God has
commanded and command what
God has forbidden,
we have put one option: WE
MUST OBEY GOD RATHER
THAN MAN

WHAT PETER IS SAYING?

•We will not listen to you, we will not

stop teaching, preaching, and
sharing Jesus
• 30 The God of our
fathers raised Jesus,
Preaching whom you killed by
hanging him on a tree.
Jesus before 31 God exalted him at
his right hand as
with Leader and Savior, to
give repentance to
BOLDNESS Israel and
forgiveness of sins.
What Peter preached about Jesus?
Jesus has been raised from the dead (a man
whom they’ve killed)
God exalted Him at His right hand ( whom
they mocked and hang on a tree)
Making Him a Leader “RULER” and Savior
Jesus only will give repentance and
Forgiveness of sins
Obey God
“Jesus, whom you
whatever the killed by hanging
cost is him on a tree.”
Peter pointing out his finger towards the
council, knowing that they have a power to
kill him
3. HOLY SPIRIT DWELLS TO
THOSE WHO OBEY GOD
32 And we are witnesses to
these things, and so is the
Holy Spirit, whom God has
given to those who obey him.”
IF we continue to obey God rather than man His
Spirit will continue to dwell in us

God tells them to preach about Jesus but the

people telling them to be quiet

The Holy Spirit is a proof and seal of our

obedience and salvation
Example of People who choose to obey man
rather than God
Saul chose to obey man “I have feared the people
and obeyed their voice 1 Samuel 15:24”
The Pharisees “John 12:43 loves the glory that
comes from man than comes from God”

Aaron who built an Idols because of the request of

people
Conclusion:

•Choose to please and obey God than

Man
•Whatever the cost is, obey him.
•Obey God no matter what
•The very purpose of man is to obey
God and to Give glory to His name
