Introduction
RAN2255 TWAMP over IuR: IP Transport Measurement Initiated from RNC and Flexi Direct
BTS feature introduces a means for actively measuring and supervising the IP network conditions
through the mobile backhaul between two points. These two points can be the BTS on one side, and the
RNC or a site router on the other side.
Benefits: Is able to monitor the network conditions, and can react quickly to potential service
degradations. The measurements provide an indication of possible violations against an SLA (Service
Level Agreement).
Configuration
Were agreed 3 monitoring sessions for every Iur with the following parameters:
Session 1:
DSCP 46 (High Priority)
Lpacket Size 100 Bytes
Message per seconds 1
RTT Threshold alarm 30/100 ms*
Packet Lost Threshold alarm 1%
Session 2:
DSCP 34 (Medium Priority)
Lpacket Size 100 Bytes
Message per seconds 1
RTT Threshold alarm 30/100 ms*
Packet Lost Threshold alarm 1%
Session 3:
DSCP 0 (Best effort)
Lpacket Size 100 Bytes
Message per seconds 1

The feature allows monitor the IuR performance (RTT, Success Rate, packet loss) in reporting suite report
RSRAN136. Round-trip time is the time required for a signal pulse or packet to travel from a specific source to a
specific destination and back again.
