Maamoul • Maamoul is a sweet pastry made with dates, pistachios, or walnuts, which is then baked and dusted with powdered sugar. They use maamoul molds or other tools to create the decorative pattern on the cookie before dusting it with powdered sugar. It's a common dessert in Arab countries, including Palestine, Syria, Yemen, and Lebanon. Manakish • Manakish are a very popular breakfast food based in the Levantine region of the Middle-East. Manakish are pretty much a flatbread topped with a variety of possible toppings. A few of those toppings are za’atar, a blend of cheeses, an onion and tomato mixture, and keshek. They are known as the go-to breakfast. There is not much information about the origin of manakish. However, the first known records of the dish are found in the Arabian cookbook which appeared in the 10th century. Maqluba • Maqluba is a traditional Iraqi, Lebanese, Palestinian, Jordanian, and Syrian dish served throughout the Levant. It consists of meat, rice, and fried vegetables that is placed in a pot which is flipped upside down when served, therefore the name maqluba, which translates to "upside-down." Sheer Kurma • Sheer Khurma is a rich vermicelli pudding made with milk, lots of nuts, dates and sugar. Sheer Khurma when translated means milk with dates. It's often made during Eid in the Indian subcontinent, Afghanistan and parts of central Asia. Its origins are unknown; but it's believed to have been created somewhere along the silk road. Later it gained popularity throughout the Indian subcontinent and Central Asia.
