Death and Human Dignity

GROUP #4
INTRODUCTION
Death is an inevitable part of the human experience, and it can
have a profound impact on our sense of dignity. Human dignity refers
to the inherent value and worth of every individual, and it is often
linked to concepts such as respect, autonomy, and self-
determination. When it comes to death, there are a number of
factors that can affect a person's sense of dignity, including the
circumstances of their death, the level of control they have over the
dying process, and the way in which their death is perceived by
others.

Death is a complex and sensitive topic that has been a subject of

discussion and contemplation throughout human history. It refers to
the cessation of life functions in an organism, including the end of
consciousness, brain function, and respiration. The understanding of
death varies across cultures and religions, and it is often associated
with rituals, customs, and beliefs.

OUR STAND
OUR GROUP TAKES A STANCE AGAINST ALL OF THE ISSUES - THE
DEATH PENALTY, EUTHANASIA, AND ASSISTED SUICIDE - DUE TO THE
NUMEROUS CONS ASSOCIATED WITH EACH PRACTICE. THE DEATH
PENALTY PRESENTS THE RISK OF EXECUTING INNOCENT INDIVIDUALS
AND IS MORE COSTLY THAN A LIFE SENTENCE WITHOUT PAROLE.
MOREOVER, IT DOES NOT HAVE A SIGNIFICANT DETERRENT EFFECT
ON CRIME. IN THE CASE OF EUTHANASIA AND ASSISTED SUICIDE,
ETHICAL CONCERNS ARISE REGARDING THE RIGHT TO LIFE AND THE
SANCTITY OF LIFE. THERE IS ALSO A POTENTIAL SLIPPERY SLOPE
EFFECT, WHERE VULNERABLE INDIVIDUALS MAY BE COERCED INTO
ENDING THEIR LIVES, AND THE RISK OF MEDICAL ERRORS. THE
LEGALIZATION OF THESE PRACTICES MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF
ABUSE AND BROADEN ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA, POSING POTENTIAL
DANGERS TO THOSE WHO CAN ACCESS THEM. THERE FORE OUR
GROUP BELIEVES THAT THE POTENTIAL HARMS AND RISKS
