 HISTORY:
 The son of an extramarital lover of former world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, he is imprisoned in a
youth reform school in Los Angeles, when Creed's widow, Mary Anne, visits and offers to adopt him.

 In 2015, Donnie resigns from a financial group to pursue his dream of being a professional boxer. Mary Anne
opposes his aspiration by remembering how her husband was murdered in the ring by Iván Drago 30 years ago,
but Donnie ignores him and leaves home. Donnie tries to enter the Delphi Boxing Academy, managed by his
family friend Tony "Little Duke" Evers Jr., the son of Apollo's trainer, Tony "Duke" Evers, but is rejected.
Undaunted, Donnie goes to Philadelphia, hoping to contact his late father's old friend and rival, former world
heavyweight champion Rocky Balboa.

 Donnie meets Rocky at his Italian restaurant, Adrian's, named in honor of his late wife, and asks Rocky to be his
coach. Rocky is reluctant to return to boxing having already made a temporary return at an older age despite
suffering brain trauma during his fighting career. However, he accepts. Donnie asks him about his "third hidden
fight" between him and Apollo right after Apollo helped him regain his heavyweight title, and Rocky tells him
that Apollo won. Donnie trains at the Front Street Gym, with some of Rocky's old friends as seconds. He also
finds love in Bianca, a singer and songwriter with potential.
 Donnie, now known as "Hollywood Donnie", defeats a local fighter and word spreads that he is Creed's
illegitimate son. Rocky receives a call from representatives of world light heavyweight champion “Pretty” Ricky
Conlan, who is forced to retire due to a pending prison sentence. Conlan offers to make Donnie his final
challenger, as long as he changes his name to Adonis Creed. Donnie is initially resistant, wanting to carve out his
own legacy. However, he later agrees.

 While helping Donnie train, Rocky learns that he has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He is unwilling to go through
chemotherapy, remembering that it was not enough to save Adrian when she had ovarian cancer. His diagnosis
and the fact that his best friend and brother-in-law Paulie Pennino had passed away, along with Adrian, Apollo
and his former trainer Mickey Goldmill, force him to confront his own mortality. Seeing Rocky distraught, Donnie
urges him to seek treatment.

 Donnie fights Conlan in the latter's hometown of Liverpool, England at Goodison Park and many parallels emerge
between the upcoming fight and Apollo and Rocky's first fight forty years ago. First, before going to the ring,
Donnie receives a gift from Mary Anne: new pants designed with the American flag similar to the ones Apollo and
Rocky had worn. Additionally, to everyone's surprise, Donnie takes on Conlan with everything he can. Conlan
knocks out Donnie, but Donnie gets up to knock out Conlan for the first time in the latter's career, but Conlan
wins by split decision (just as Apollo retained his title by split decision against Rocky). However, Donnie has
earned the respect of Conlan and the public, as Max Kellerman narrates the fight for HBO saying that "Conlan has
won the fight, but Creed has won the night", Conlan tells Donnie that he is the future. of the light heavyweight
division. Donnie and a weak but improving Rocky climb the Rocky Steps at the entrance of the Philadelphia
Museum of Art.
