Plot
• It´s the storyline
of the myth

Hero´s Journey
Conflict
• The issues that the character faces in a story.
• Two basic types of conflict
– Internal Conflict- The troubles the character has
with themselves.
– External Conflict- The trouble that the character
physically goes against.
Four Types of Conflict
• Character vs. Destiny
– Character vs. Fate
• Man Vs. Man
– Character Vs. Character
• Man Vs. Nature
– Character Vs. the weather, plants, animals
• Man Vs. Society
– Character Vs. The society that the character is in
• Man Vs. Himself
– Character Vs. His own thoughts, morals and beliefs
Types of Characters

• Protagonist—It´s always the hero


• Antagonist—It can be a creature or
monster or another god or goddess
Setting
• The Time and Location in which a story
takes place.
• The surroundings that are in the story.
Narrator
• Each myth is presented in the voice of a
narrator writing under the Antonine's, such
as Plutarch or Pausanias, with citations of
the classical sources. The literary quality
of his retellings is generally praised.
• Third Person
– Tells the story as a spectator
Theme
• Common Themes in Greek Myths:

– Fate;
– Conflict;
– Bloodshed;
– Heroes Quest;
– Beauty;
– Love

Example: At the beginning of the World, Cronos
