SAP Calendar Year &

Year Dependency
By: Abdelrahman Samy
Presented to: Eng. Michael Shaker
Fiscal Year Types

▪ Calendar Year
▪ Non – calendar independent year
▪ Non – calendar dependent year
Calendar Year

▪ A calendar year fiscal year in SAP is defined when the fiscal year is as
the same as the regular calendar year which is from 1st Jan to 31st Dec.
Non-calendar Independent Year

▪ A non-calendar independent fiscal year is defined when the

company’s fiscal year months (periods) are same as calendar year in
length, but the fiscal year is different in the starting period and
ending period and these periods will be the same for continues years.
Example: a company’s fiscal year starts from 1st April and ends in 31st
March.
Non-calendar Dependent Year

▪ A non-calendar dependent year is defined when the company’s fiscal

year may differ each year and we set it manually each year, or if the
fiscal year is less than 12-months (shortened fiscal year) or more than
12 months (extended fiscal year).
Example: A company has finished implementation of Sap at 1st Aug
2023 and wants to Go-live but the company still needs it’s fiscal year
to be a regular calendar year, in this case the company can use a
shortened fiscal year from 1st Aug 2023 to 31 Dec 2023 and then start
a fiscal calendar year in 1st Jan 2024, or the company can use an
extended fiscal year from 1st Aug 2023 to 31 Dec 2024 then start a
fiscal calendar year in 1st Jan 2025.
