“My life didn’t please me, so I created my life.” –
Coco Chanel
Chanel did not have the best start in life. After
her mother’s death, her father sent her to an
orphanage at the age of 12. But the tragedy of
her early life was key to Chanel’s success, as
she learned how to sew during that time.
After an uneventful singing career
and working as a seamstress, Coco
Chanel crossed paths with two
wealthy young men. They would later
make her fashion career possible.
These aristocrats and their lifestyle of
abundance also greatly influenced
Chanel’s designs and vision for her
work.
Chanel opened her first fashion stores and
revolutionized the fashion industry. Her feminist rebel
spirit challenged the status quo for women’s clothing in
the early 20th century.
The figure is staggering. On
Tuesday, May 24, Chanel
announced that they had 15.6
billion dollars in sales in 2021 (14.5
billion euros). The luxury house
benefited from a 49.6% increase in
sales to erase the annus horribilis of
2020, during which their activity
had dropped by 18% to 8.3 billion
euros.
She is the only fashion designer listed on
Time magazine's list of the 100 most
influential people of the 20th century.
But what’s most intriguing about her
figure is that she really succeeded as an
entrepreneur: by 1970 her net worth was
$19 billion (today equivalent to around
$118 billion), making her one of the
richest women of all time.
“When you undervalue what you
do, the world will undervalue who
you are.”
- Oprah Winfrey

Oprah grew up in
poverty and had a tough
childhood.
Because she had a
teenage mother, she
rarely had a stable place
to live. In addition to
this, she was molested as
a young child by her
cousin, uncle, and
family friends,but all the
hardships she went
through motivated her
even more to go towards
her goals.
her vision that truly sets her
apart.
We can note that Winfrey
built her empire step by step
– using her television show
to found a production
company and then
diversifying into print, radio
and online media businesses
and launching a high-profile
charitable foundation.
Much of Oprah's success can
be attributed to the fact
that she took risks and was
willing to venture into new
territory. Winfrey began her
broadcasting career at a
Nashville-area radio station
and continued working there
for several years until she
was offered a newscasting
job at a local television
