RENEWABLE ENERGY
Renewable

energy is energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which are renewable.

Some of the Renewable Energy are

Wind Energy

Modern wind turbines range from around 600 kW to 5 MW of rated power, although turbines with rated output of 1.53 MW have become the most common for commercial use.

Energy in water can be harnessed and used. Since water is about 800 times denser than air, even a slow flowing stream of water, or moderate sea swell, can yield considerable amounts of energy.

Geothermal

energy

Geothermal energy is energy obtained by tapping the heat of the earth itself, both from kilometers deep into the Earth's crust in volcanically active locations of the globe or from shallow depths. Three types of power plants are used to generate power from geothermal energy: dry steam, flash, and binary.

ENERGY FROM SUN

The

Earth receives 174 petawatts of incoming solar radiation at the upper atmosphere. The total solar energy absorbed by Earth's atmosphere, oceans and land masses is approximately 3,850,000 exajoules per year. geographical location the closer to the equator the more "potential" solar energy is available.

APPLICATION

Solar lighting

Daylighting systems collect and distribute sunlight to provide interior illumination.

use

Solar hot water systems sunlight to heat water

APPLICATION CTD

Water treatment

Solar distillation can be used to make saline or brackish water potable. Solar water disinfection involves exposing water-filled plastic polyethylene terephthalate bottles to sunlight for several hours.

APPLICATION CTD

Solar Vehicle

Development of a solar powered car has been an engineering goal since the 1980s. Some vehicles use solar panels for auxiliary power, such as for air conditioning, to keep the interior cool, thus reducing fuel consumption.

SOLAR ENERGY ADVANTAGES AND

DISADVANTAGES
Advantages
Saves you money. Environmentally friendly. Low/ no maintenance. Independent/ semi-independent. Can be used for remote application.

SOLAR ENERGY ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES CTD

Disadvantages
Large areas of land are required for large-scale commercial solar energy projects. Up front costs associated with installing a solar system. Efficiency of the system also relies on the location of the sun. Production of solar energy is influenced by the presence of clouds or pollution in the air.
