PABLO S. ANTONIO
1901-1975
YEAR CONFERNMENT: 1976
• Is one of the leaders in modern •
Philippine architecture.
• The rank and title of
National Artist of the Philippines
was conferred on him by President
Ferdinand Marcos in 1976.
• His works are simple and
functional.
• Most of his designs used clean and
smooth lines.
• If he used curves, these were
made integral to the structure.
• Forms maximized the use of
natural light and cross ventilation.

• Visionary behind this
majestic structure.
• He also changed the city
with distinguishing
architecture reflective of
Philippine art and culture.
• His style of floating
volume, and duality of
light and heavy is
unparalleled with others
artists.
Andro V. Locsin
• (August 15, 1928 – November
15, 1994) was a Filipino
architect, artist, and
interior designer known for his
use of concrete, floating volume
and simplistic design in his
various projects. An avid
collector, he was fond of
modern painting and
Chinese ceramics.
• He was proclaimed a
National Artist of the Philippine
s for Architecture

in 1990 by the late President
Corazon C. Aquino.

• Famous projects
include:
• Istana Nurul Man- it is
the palace of the Sultan
of Brunie which has a
floor area of almost 2.2
million sq. feet.
JUAN F. NAKPIL
1899-1986
YEAR OF CONFERMENT: 1973
• He had a strong faith in the
Filipino architect with the “
belief that there is such a
thing as Philippine
Architecture, espousing
architecture reflective of
Philippine traditions and
culture”
• The additional dome and
second belfry can be
credited to his brilliant
artist.

• Famous projects
include:

ILDEFONSO P. SANTOS, JR.
1929-2014
YEAR OF CONFERMENT: 2006
• One of the most recognized landscape
architect in the country.
• popularly known simply as "IP Santos",
was a Filipino architect who was known
for being the
• "Fatherof Philippine
Landscape Architecture."
• He was recognized as a
National Artist of the Philippines in the
field of Architecture in 2006.[1]
• Enhances outdoor, public spaces,
landmarks, and structures by contouring
the environment.
• Landscape architecture is usually done by
contouring the environment to enhance
the appearance of a certain place.

• Famous projects include:
• Makati Commercial
Center- the landscape
walks, fountains and
sculpture as accents .
• Paco Park

1912- 1994
Year of Conferment: 2014
Architecture graduate from
the University of Santo
Tomas. He is the country’s
82nd licensed architect.
The head of the National
Committee on Architecture
and Allied arts of the NCCA.
Advanced the progressive ideas
of modernism in rebuilding
the philippines from the
ashes of the war in the mid-
20th century.
JOSE MARIA ZARAGOZA
• Zaragoza was involved in
designing several religious
buildings such as The Our Lady
of the Holy Rosary in Tala,
Caloocan completed in 1950;
the Santo Domingo Church in
Quezon City .
• Spanish colonial architecture
and combined it with simple,
unornamented designs of the
International style. This design
was evident in the arcades of
the Santo Domingo Church in
Quezon City.[4]
