 The FITT principle is used as a


guide to creating a fitness
program and a method to
improve the fitness or skill
levels of an individual/athletes.
TWO WAYS TO MONITOR THE
PROGRESS OF INTENSE
EXERCISES.
1.Rate of perceived exertion (RPE)
• a way to measure the level of exertion a person
feels during physical activity.
2. Heart Rate
• More accurate way to monitor the progress of
intense exercises.
TARGET HEART RATE ZONE
• Refers to the level at which the heart is being excercised and
conditioned but not overworked.
RESTING HEART RATE
• The number of heart beats per minute while at rest
MAXIMUM HEART RATE
• The upper limit of what your cardiovascular system can
handle during physical activity.
HEART RATE RESERVE
• The difference between your maximum (peak) heart rate and
your resting heart rate.
