Prayer

Panginoon naming Diyos,

panginoong Hesus.
Amen.
What is the important of plants like
trees can give to us?
What is the relationship of plants to
animals and vice versa?
At the end of the lesson the students
should be able to:

Identify the basic features of

photosynthesis and respiration.
Explain the importance of
photosynthesis and respiration in
daily lives
Differentiate basic features and
importance of photosynthesis and
respiration

Cellular Respiration
Photosynthesis

 it is the process by which plants

use light energy from the sun and
carbon dioxide to produce
glucose, the sugar molecules and
oxygen that they use for growth
and nourishment.
Cellular Respiration

 it is the process of extracting

energy in the form of ATP from
the glucose in the food you eat.
 Photosynthesis occurs primarily in the
chloroplast, which converts carbon dioxide
and water into oxygen and glucose.
 In the process, sunlight absorb in the
chlorophyll an organelle of the chloroplast
that absorb light and uses an energy to
generates throughout the process. .
 The raw materials for this process are carbon
dioxide and water in the process of light
dependent process which yield or produce into
oxygen and glucose that primarily used as the
raw materials of cellular respiration.
 Glucose used as food by the plant and oxygen
is a by-product.
 Cellular Respiration occurs in the
mitochondria, which converts oxygen and
glucose into the water and carbon dioxide.

 In the process, the glucose enters in the

cytoplasm to the mitochondria through the
different processes.

 Water and carbon dioxide are the by-product

and ATP is energy that is transformed from
the process.

Photosynthesis and Respiration in Daily Life

Scenario: After Eating Meal

Ask the students to think about what happens after they eat
meal. Explain that when we consume food, our digestive system
breaks it down into nutrients. These nutrients are absorbed into
our bloodstreams and transported to our body cell’s. How
Photosynthesis and respiration involved.

What is the Difference

Direction: Differentiate basic features and importance of photosynthesis and cellular

respiration
Food made O2 given off
Food broken down O2 taken in
Energy from sunlight stored in glucose In the presence of chlorophyll
CO2 taken in occurs in all living
organisms
CO2 and H2O given off light needed
No light needed in chloroplast
In mitochondria

PHOTOSYNTHESIS RESPIRATION
What is the importance of oxygen
in our daily lives and how plants
are crucial for providing it?
• what are the different features of
photosynthesis and cellular respiration?

• What is the importance of

photosynthesis and cellular respiration
in our lives?

• Can you differentiate the basic features

for photosynthesis and for cellular
respiration?
