1. KBBI: Proses, cara, perbuatan mengilhamkan/mengilhami dari kata dasar
ilham
2. Yunani: Theopneustos, yang berarti dimasuki nafas Allah (2 Tim. 3:16)
3. Segala tulisan (pasa grafe) yang menunjuk kembali kepada Kitab Suci (hiera
gramata).

• Teori dikte (imla): Manusia hanyalah alat yang Tuhan pakai
untuk menulis Alkitab.
• Teori penyesuaian: Proses penyesuaian pengilhaman Allah
dalam keterbatasan manusia.
• Teori pengawasan: Allah berdaulat penuh terhadap semua
penulis sebagai Firman Allah yang sah.
• Teori pemikiran yang diilhami: Penulis mengelola
pemikiran yang telah dianjurkan atau diilhami Allah.
• Teori Alkitab mengandung Firman Allah: Allah
menggunakan Alkitab (buku manusia) untuk dijadikan
firman-Nya melalui perjumpaan pribadi.
