RICE - Rice, locally known DAY 1

as “Palay” (un-milled rice), “Bigas”


WET DRY
(milled rice), and “Kanin” (cooked DAY 2
rice) is much more than food. It is a DRY
grain crop that has historical and
cultural significance. DAY 3

This is an experiment/observation of rice WET DRY

for 5 days in succession. DAY 5

In day 1, I prepare rice separated with two
cups. On the right side I put a small amount DAY 3
of water. While on the other cup I sit it like a
normal dry rice.

Observation: upon putting the rice, I don’t
smell or see changes with the rice since it past
only some minute when I put water on the WET DRY
other cup. DAY 5

Observation: on the 2nd day of my
observation, still the smell doesn’t change, DAY 3
and the size of each grain rice remains
unchanged. I’ve also notice that the cup
contained with water started to change its

color turning to white.

Observation: on the 3rd day the right cup
without water remains the same but the cup
with water started to smell bad and that its
grains turns whiter and whiter.

Observation: On the 4th day the cup without
water doesn’t change its appearance nor its DAY 3
smell and texture but the cup with water has
a stronger smell than before.

Observation: On the 5th day of observation,
I’ve notice that the cup with water really DAY 3
smells fetid like it’s a sour smell sticking to
your nostrils, its grains turns shiny and
whiter, and each grain sticks to the cup

resulted by the water inside it.
