Objectives:

• Recognize synonyms.
• Order synonyms according to
their strength.
• Use synonyms to make
sentences look more interesting.
A thesaurus is a book of synonyms – words
which have almost the same meaning.
Example: If you looked up thin, you would
find words such as
slim, slender, slight, skinny and lean.
There will also be the antonym (opposite) of
thin: fat
