GOOD AFTERNOON

GRADE TWO SSES

WEEK 5
GAS STATES
OF
MATTER
Air is everywhere. It can be in a tire, in an empty room, in the
supermarket or in the empty bottles. Without air we cannot
survive here on earth. Have you ever wonder if they occupy
space and have shapes? Let’s find out the answers to these
questions.

MATERIALS
Fan 1meter yarn 12inches of light weighted stick
3 Balloons with difference shapes 2 balloons with
same shape and size
PROCEDURE
1. Turn on the electric fan and use it.
Observe what is produced by the fan.

Illustration 1 Air coming from the electric fan

2. Get the yarn, stick and two balloons of the
same shape and size. Inflate one of the
balloons
3. Tie the yarn around the middle of the stick.
Tie the deflated balloon in an end of the stick
and the inflated balloon in the other.
4. Let’s this set up hangs freely or suspended
in the air. Observe how the stick behaves.
5. Blow air into the other balloon.
Observe what happens and how it
looks like.
