● Can offer financial rewards e.g bonus payments

Communicating
● Good managers must be good communicators with all stakeholders
● In oral, written and visual communication
● Through a range of methods - email, meetings etc.

Planning
● Must identify the overall business goals and break them down
into more manageable tasks
● Should develop plans to achieve goals using resources available
e.g employees and capital
● Make short, medium and long term plans
Organising
● Need to identify roles and tasks that need to be performed by staff
● Organisational structures they can choose from are functional, geographic and
product
Controlling
● Management should build control mechanisms into the business - financial control,
stock control, quality control
