OBJECTIVES

1.Identify the major parts of Rice Cooker

2. Classify the parts of Rice Cooker
3. Value the importance of knowing the parts
of Rice Cooker
RICE COOKER
• This self-contained kitchen is
used primarily for cooking rice
• It is used to prepare steamed rice
and keep them warm after cooking
• It consists of an insulated case
containing a removable cooking pot
 A heating element is located
between the two containers which
is usually controlled by a thermostat
 The cooking pot is usually
Calibrated to ensure proper proportion
of the rice and water
TYPES OF

RICE COOKER
1. Basic rice cooker
A basic rice cooker is a rice cooker
with minimal features. A basic rice
cooker typically has a bowl and
heating element which boils water
and cooks rice.
2. Digital rice cooker
A digital rice cooker is a rice
cooker with digital settings. Digital
rice cookers allow you to pre-set
your temperature or cooking time.
2. Digital rice cooker
A digital rice cooker functions just
like an ordinary rice cooker but has
an added feature: it measures the
pot's temperature and adjusts
cooking time according to what
type of rice is being cooked..
2. Digital rice cooker
..
3. Multi-function rice cooker
It has a multiple cooking types/
modes. May combine with a slow
cooker or steamer. It is used for
cooking rice and has other functions,
including steaming vegetables,
making soups, and more.
3. Multi-function rice cooker
4. Induction heat rice cooker
An induction heat rice cooker uses
a magnetic coil to heat the rice and
water.
4. Induction heat rice cooker
Induction heat rice cookers get
their power through an alternating
current from the wall outlet instead
of using direct heat from an
electrical plate underneath
their inner cooking pan.
4. Induction heat rice cooker
Induction heat rice cookers are
more expensive than other rice
cookers because of their precision
cooking and multiple functionalities.

INTERNAL PARTS EXTERNAL PARTS
• Power Cable • Thermostat assembly
• Housing / Body • Thermal Fuse
Assembly • Mica Heater
• Inner Cooking Pot • Heating Element
• Lid • Magnetic Temperature
• Control Panel Switch
EXTERNAL PARTS
1. Power Cable
Rice cookers operate on
electricity. So the power cable is an
essential part of a rice
cooker. It connects
the appliance to the
electrical source
2. Housing / Body Assembly
It basically houses all the parts of
the rice cooker, including
the display and toggle
switches, cable socket,
handle and base stand
3. Inner Cooking Pot
The inner pot holds the contents
that are to be cooked. It’s made of
metal and may have
a non-stick coating.
4. Lid
Every rice cooker has a lid. But the
design of the lid varies
from one model to
another. In some cases,
the lid is attached to the cooker
housing.
4. Lid
These lids can only swing open or
close.
4. Lid
However, simple rice cooker
models may have a detachable lid
that you can take off.
5. Control Panel
The control panel is in the front of
the cooker. A part of Rice Cooker
that controls the operation
automatically.
5. Control Panel
5. Control Panel
The structure and functions of the
control panel of a rice cooker vary
significantly across brands and
models.
INTERNAL PARTS
6. Cast Heater / Heating Element
Is a part of a rice cooker that
produces heat to the
aluminum pan which
serves as a heating
element of the
rice cooker
7. Thermostat assembly
A device that automatically
responds to temperature changes and
activates switches
controlling the
equipment
7. Thermostat assembly
7. Thermostat assembly
7. Thermostat assembly
The center thermostat turns off the
cooking cycle, and starts the
warming cycle when it senses that
the bottom of the rice cooker pan
reach 134°C ± 6°C.
7. Thermostat assembly
The ability of a metal to be
attracted by the magnet decreases as
it is heated. Finally, the inner spring
pressure becomes stronger than
themagnetic pull and the metal and
magnet will pop apart.
8 Thermal Fuse
The thermal fuse is
used to open the circuit to the
cooking heater when the temperature
has gone
unusually high.
9. Mica Heater
This type of heater is covered by
some sort of paper (mica) that
function at the time of warming.
9. Mica Heater
9. Mica Heater
This heater also serves as a
thermistor or an object that has
resistance. The greater the resistance,
the lower the voltage is. thus
reducing the power leads to lowering
the heat energy.
10. Heating Element
The heating element converts
electrical energy into heats(it act as a
resistive load which dissipate heat as
current flows through )
10. Heating Element
11. Magnetic Temperature Switch
It is use in the cook stage of the
rice cooker. The user press the switch
to the cook state and the magnet hold
it in that state until the temperature
reaches or exceed the set boiling
point
