Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the student should be able
to :
Explained the effects of consumption and production patterns that
a. contribute to the problem of climate change;

Create a poster on how to save the earth through the effect of

b. climate change and global warming;and

Appreciate and, instill the significance of protecting the ozone layer

c.
of our planet earth.
Change is inevitable.

The era of globalization

certainly contributed in
changing the landscape of the
world and its inhabitants.
Change is inevitable.

Amid this growth and

advancement in technology,
the environment seems to
bear and suffer the
consequences.
Change is inevitable.

Every day, we are confronted with issues

and problems related to the environment.
The issue on climate change is one
concrete manifestation and realization that
the age of globalization and the rapid
industrial and technological advancement
has taken its toll on the natural
environment.
PLANETARY NETWORK

it refers to the interconnections

and the interrelations among
various elements in the natural
environment enveloping and
affecting Earth as well as
beyond Earth's surface.
GLOBAL WARMING

This is a phenomenon which

refers to the rising of global
average temperature on Earth's
surface due to the thinning of
the ozone layer in Earth's
atmosphere.
GLOBAL WARMING
Ultraviolet rays can cause cornea
damage damage and skin cancer;
stunt the growth and food
manufacturing process of green
plants and destroy the floating
microorganisms at the base of the
ocean food chain.
GLOBAL WARMING
CAUSES CHANGES IN
THE CLIMATE
PATTERNS AND
WEATHER
CLIMATE CHANGE

This refers to the

major changes in the
climate that last for
long periods of time.
CLIMATE CHANGE

Weather is the atmospheric

condition involving hot or cold,
rainy or dry, cloudy or clear sky
and stormy or calm in a short
period of time. (Arzadon et.al
2015).

THE EFFECTS OF
CLIMATE CHANGE
1) LONGER, MORE INTENSE ALLERGY
SEASONS.
Warming temperatures in some areas, like the northern
United States, are extending the periods when plants
release pollen. This affects not only people who already
have allergies, but those who don’t.
2) FOODS YOU LOVE ARE BECOMING LESS
NUTRITIOUS AND COST MORE.
The same CO2 accumulating in our atmosphere thanks to fossil
fuels is actually changing the composition of fruits and vegetables
that we eat, making them less nutritious. Extra CO2 is speeding up
photosynthesis and causing plants to grow with more sugar and
less calcium, protein, zinc, and important vitamins.
3) MORE COMMON, MORE SEVERE, AND
MORE LONG-LASTING HEAT WAVES. Extreme
heat and heat waves have happened since the beginning
of time. But across the board, climate change is making
heat waves more common, severe, and long-lasting.
Heat waves can become so intense that our roads
actually melt.
4) WILDFIRES CAUSING DAMAGE TO OUR
LANDSCAPES AND OUR COMMUNITIES – AS
WELL AS OUR HEALTH.
Wildfires are devastating communities around the
world. From the billion-dollar destruction they cause to
the costs of lost plant, animal, and even human life,
these devastating natural disasters are scarring our
landscapes.
5) HURRICANES ARE BECOMING MORE
LIKELY AND MORE DANGEROUS.
Around the world, average sea surface temperatures are
rising. As seas get warmer, they add more water vapor and
heat energy into the atmosphere. This extra heat and water,
just happens to be the perfect fuel for hurricanes and in the
right conditions, can make dangerous storms even more
powerful.
6) MORE CLIMATE-RELATED MASS
MIGRATION.
Climate change is already prompting an increase in
migration, with people being forced to leave their homes
because of drought, flooding, and other climate-related
disasters.
7) DISEASES ARE SPREADING MORE EASILY
Disease-carrying insects thrive with warmer- than-
average temperatures, extreme heat waves, and heavy
rains. These vectors live longer lives in extended
periods of warm weather. Fly into new areas that were
previously too cold. And reproduce in water deposits
left by the rain.
Climate change is also creating ideal
conditions for waterborne pathogens like
bacteria, viruses, and protozoa, which
flourish in warmer waters.
THE EFFECTS OF
TOPIC
TOPIC
CONSUMPTION AND
PRODUCTION
PATTERNS ON
CLIMATE CHANGE
PRODUCTION
It refers to how people generate and
manufacture the products they need
to use, sell, or consume. Almost
everything comes from natural
resources which are depleted every
time they are used.
PRODUCTION
If production pattern is
characterized by heavy
dependence on coal, the problem
of climate change will be more
aggravated.
PRODUCTION
These only show that the more
progressive the country is, the
more they contribute to the
depletion of the ozone layer and
the worsening of global warming
and climate change.
CONSUMPTION
This refers to the the use of or
economic consumer goods and
resources. Consumption patterns
can be categorized as individual,
family, company and government
consumption.
CONSUMPTION
It is the main reason why we need to
use our resources. Ecosystem has the
ability to regenerate, sustain, and
adjust what is lost, but with the
excessive Use of land resources,
ecosystem will be destroyed.
CONSUMPTION
The resources in our environment
are limited but the need for
production and consumption is
unlimited.
SIMPLE THINGS YOU
TOPIC
TOPIC
CAN DO TO HEL
FIGHT CLIMATE
CHANGE
SAVE ENERY

Saving energy not only saves

you money but helps you cut
carbon emissions too. For
example, refrain from using
your cellphone while charging.
RECYCLING

It can really help stop

climate change because
re-using materials
usually uses less energy.
SAVING WATER

Clean water that is

pumped to most homes
has been treated which
uses lots of energy.
PLANT TREES

Trees help suck

carbon out of the air
and stabilize the
climate.
GENERALIZATION
APPLICATION
Instruction: Create a poster on how to save the
earth through the effect of climate change. You
only have 5 five minutes to finish it and
afterwards post your outputs in front and choose
one representative to explain.
ASSESSMENT
Instruction: In a 1/4 sheet of paper, enumerate the
following.
1-5) Give 5 causes of climate change

6-8) Give 3 solution on how to prevent global warming

9-10) Give 2 effects of climate change

ASSIGNMENT
Instruction: In a short bond paper, write a reflective essay
about the importance of protecting and saving the ozone
layer of our planet earth. Be guided on the rubrics
provided.
