• Energy : Capacity to do work (joule) the capacity for doing work. It may exist in potential, kinetic, thermal,
electrical, chemical, nuclear, or other various forms. There are, moreover, heat and work—i.e., energy in
the process of transfer from one body to another
• Sun – Primary source of energy
• Earth is the large store house of Energy
• Fossil fuels, wind, water, Sunlight, plants are the various sources of it
• Renewable Energy : They are continuously replenished by natural process. they are infinite, natural, restorable
and unlimited

.
 The energy of a body is its capacity to do work

Different forms of energy :

1.Mechanical energy (kinetic and potential)
2. Thermal (or) Heat energy
3. Chemical energy
4. Electrical energy
5. Nuclear energy
6. Electromagnetic energy
7. Gravitational energy
8. ocean thermal energy conversation (OTEC)

The S.I unit of energy is Joule or KJ or Watt.h

Types of power generation
1. Non-Renewable energy or Conventional Energy
Most of the world's energy sources are derived from conventional sources-
fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gases
Example:
(a) Thermal energy : coal, …Steam power plant
(b) Hydraulic energy: water…. Hydro power plant
(c) Nuclear energy: atoms…. Atomic power plant
2. Renewable or Non-conventional energy
sources
1. Solar energy
2. Wind energy
3. Bio energy
4. Hydro energy
5. Geothermal energy
6. Wave and tidal energy
What do renewable and non-renewable mean?
Energy resources can be classified into two groups.

Renewable or nonconventional Non-renewable or conventional

Renewable energy resources can be replaced Non-renewable energy resources

or regenerated and will never run out (at will eventually run out – once used
least not for a very long time). they cannot be used again.

Examples: wind ,solar and otec ..etc...

Examples: coal and oil ,n gas....etc

Telangana's total installed capacity from wind power is 128 megawatts
(MW) including 100 MW from Pargi windmills and 28 MW from
windmills on the Hyderabad-Mumbai highway near Zaheerabad.
Other than the windmills, Pargi also uses solar energy
seven plants of NTPC Ramagundam, two plants of SCCL, two plants of
Genco Kakatiya, and one plant of Genco at Kothagudem. The total
installed capacity of these thermal power plants is 5,400 MW.
Gujarat (43.6 GW) leads in power generation capacity, followed by
Maharashtra (42.3 GW) and Tamil Nadu (36.3 GW), though
Karnataka leads in renewable energy capacity
Bhadla Solar Park is the world's largest solar park located in India
which is spread over a total area of 14,000 acres in Bhadla, Phalodi
tehsil, Jodhpur district, Rajasthan,
The state of Maharashtra is at the top position in installed electricity generation
capacity in India.
Telangana in India was around 17,218 megawatts.
The Former President’s Message:

Cut down energy losses

Utilize technologies to provide a diverse
supply of environmentally friendly energy
“We must achieve Energy Independence by
2030”, including a cut down in ALL sectors
Increase the power generated through
renewable energy sources from 5% to 25%
This is the nation’s “first and highest
priority” President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
(Rocket Scientist)
Kalam pushes solar as a key part of the
2030 energy independence plan
