 Is an integral part of our nation’s national
total social, economic, and natural
resource environment.
 Active recreational activities
 Passive recreational activities
 Recreation allows people to have fun
together and to form lasting relationships
built on the experiences they have
enjoyed together, or ‘bonding”.
Recreation
 The word recreation is defined as the use
of time in a manner designed for
therapeutic refreshment of one’s body or
mind.
 Recreation is synonymous with lifestyle
and the development of a positive
attitude.
RECREATION MANAGEMENT
 A Club is an association of persons with some
common objective, usually jointly supported
and meeting periodically.
 Private Clubs and Club Membership
 Clubs have always restricted their membership.
 Private clubs, by their very nature, are selective.
TYPES OF CLUBS
 Country Clubs
 Primary recreational activity of the country club
is golf, but swimming and tennis are also
standard pursuits.
 Country clubs sell both full and partial
memberships.
 City Clubs
 Promote trade, business, and friendship among
colleagues.
 Are found in cities or business districts.
 Military Clubs
 Yacht Clubs
 Fraternal Clubs

 Spas
 Refer to any wellness or health-related resort
 Originally referred to those resorts with either
thermal or mineral springs.
 Two types of spas
 Resort spas are single-purpose spas, devoid of outside
temptations and distractions.
 Amenity spa is a spa within a resort. The key
components of the amenity spa are the “feel good”
elements, although they can include aspects of diet
and fitness.

 Many private city clubs offer extensive fitness
facilities.
 Historically, some of the country’s finest city clubs
were organized to provide opportunities for exercise,

interchange.
