PROJECT OF

MATHEMATICS

SUBMITTED TO: MR. MANISH NEGI

SUBMITTED BY: ANANT VERMA
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my teacher
MR.MANISH NEGI as well as our principal MR.SANJEEV AGGARWAL
who gave me this golden opportunity to do this wonderful project on the
topic – “3D SHAPES RELATED TO REAL LIFE” which also helped me
in doing a lot of research and I came to know about so many new things.

I am really thankful to them.

Secondly, I would also like thank my parents who helped me a lot in
finishing this project within the limited time.

I am making this project not only to attain marks but also to increase my
knowledge.

THANKS AGAIN TO ALL WHO HELPED ME

CERTIFICATE

This is to certify that the project has been made

by ANANT VERMA of class IX – A of
MATHEMATICS, under my guidance and has
been completed successfully

 Information about SPHERE

 Information about CUBE

SPHERE

In geometry, a sphere is a solid, that is absolutely round in shape defined in three-

dimensional space. Mathematically, a sphere is defined as the set of points that is at
equal distances from a common point in three dimensional space. This constant
distance is called radius of sphere and the common point is the center of sphere. An
example of sphere in real life is a ball. Unlike circle, which is a plane shape or flat
shape, defined in XY plane, a sphere is defined in three dimensions, i.e. x-axis, y-axis
and z-axis.

INTERESTING FACTS:
 A sphere is always round
 A sphere does not have any sides or flat surfaces
 Volume of Sphere = 4/3 πr3
 Surface area of sphere = 4πr2
 A sphere has only curved surface, no flat surface, no edges and no vertices
SPHERE
The real-life examples of sphere is:
1. BASKETBALL:
Radius=13cm
So, volume=9198.1cm3
Surface area=2122.64 cm2

2. MOON:
Radius= 1737.1km
Volume=2.1958*1010 km3
Surface area=3.793*107 km2
CUBE
In geometry, a scientific cube is a three-dimensional solid object bounded by six square faces, facets or
sides, with three meeting at each vertex. The cube is the only regular hexahedron and is one of the five
Platonic solids. It has 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices.

PROPRTIES OF CUBE:
 A cube has six faces and twelve edges of equal length.
 It has square-shaped faces.
 The angles of the cube in the plane are at a right angle.
 Each face of the cube meets four other faces.
 Each vertex of the cube meets three faces and three edges.
 Opposite edges of the cube are parallel to each other.

IMPORTANT FACTS:
 Total Surface Area = 6(side)2
 Lateral Surface Area = 4 (Side)2
 Volume of cube = (Side)3
 Diagonal of a cube = √3l
 Perimeter of cube = 12 x side
CUBE
The real-life examples of cube:
1.RUBIK’S CUBE:
Radius=5.6cm
Volume=175.616 cm3
TSA=188.16 cm2
CSA=125.44 cm2

2. DICE:
Radius=2cm
Volume=8 cm3
TSA=24 cm2
CSA=16 cm2
