PROJECT TITLE: DESIGN OF AN INTELLIGENT PORTABLE PATIENT MEDICINE
REMINDER SYSTEM AT HOME.
PROJECT TYPE: PROBLEM SOLVING.
PRESENTED BY; SAIDY KHALIFA ABDALLAH
ADMISSION No.160321122451
CLASS: OD16BEE.
YEAR: 2018/2019
INTRODUCTION

The category of patients involve all human beings-teachers, students,

businessmen, housewives, children and also all of us have a busy hectic schedule.
Today’s life is full of responsibilities and stress. So people are prone to diseases of
different types and it is our duty to make ourselves stay fit and health.
PROBLEM STATEMENT.

• Due to large number of patients at hospitals and long working hours it makes
difficult for nurses to keep trends of patient medication on time hence may give
the medication late to patient.
• Most of patient does not have pharmacy knowledge hence they might overdose
themselves or might fail to know which is the right medication to take due to
difficult medical terminologies hence the caregiver must be reminded on time to
give medication to patient and the correct dosage.
MAIN OBJECTIVE

The main aim of this project is to design a patient medication reminder device for
nurses at hospitals.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

• To design a circuit for medicine reminder

• To establish a patient medication reminder device for nurses at hospitals.
• To build up the prototype of the system
• To simulate the prototype.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT:

• It ensures that the patient takes medicine as predescribed by the doctor on the
correct time.
• Helps the nurses to keep trends of each patient medication history easily.
• In case on duty nurse got emergency it helps the other nurses to monitor patient
medication timely and correctly.
METHODOLOGY

• Literature review
• Data collection and analysis
• The hardware and software designing
• Testing and result
LITERETURE REVIEW:

Many Medication Systems have been developed based upon different platforms
and concepts. Many times patient forgot to take medicine on time once they
discharged from hospital and due to this negligence it may causes to death. So to
avoid such situation LIANG developed such system which reminds taking the
medicine on time. For such system he uses local web-net, LCD Display.
EXISTING SYSTEM:

Normally, patient’s health information facts had been recorded inside the shape of
paper and stored.when the patient takes medicine from the near by
dispensary/pharmacy he/she then stores the medicine at home it may be whether at
cupboard or any safe place .
PROPOSED SYSTEM

proposed system is based on Operating system which will remind the caregiver to give medicines on time
through automatic alarm ringing and notification of the respective prescription of the patient on the LCD
DATA COLLECTION.

• is the process of gathering and measuring information on variables of interest, in

an established systematic fashion that enables one to answer stated research
questions, test hypotheses, and evaluate outcomes

Operation of the proposed circuit
• The working of this system is,When the ac mains is switched on, a 12-
volt supply is given to the voltage regulator. This voltage is then
stepped down to 5 volts and sent to the power supply board. Here,
the AC volt is converted to DC using a series of resistors and a rectifier
network. The capacitive network then filters the DC voltage; the
regulated output is sent finally to the microcontroller board . In the
microcontroller board, the AT89S51 microcontroller is pre-embedded
with a software program using a Keil compiler.

• Power supply
Input voltage form main supply = 12V DC
• A 12V DC battery has been used.
• Voltage regulator used is the LM series regulator 7805 for a 5V supply which
maintains the output voltage at constant value, then power is supplied to the
circuit board.

• Buzzer
The speaker (buzzer) is required to have an ability to accept the gain
of about (40dB -45dB) which is a suitable gain of a human being ear
can accept. From the data sheet;
• Works from 2Khz to 10khz
• The minimum rated voltage of piezo buzzer is 5V DC
• Operating voltage = 3-6V DC
• Current consumption 30mA
• Sound level = 89db
