SOCIAL-SCAPE

STUDIOS
OUR MISSION STATEMENT

We will use our architecture expertise and individual qualities to provide our community
with new housing solutions.

We will focus on co-housing schemes funded in collaboration with charities and local
authorities.

We will strive to create integrated social and living spaces to promote better living
circumstances for those vulnerable in society.

We aim to be a well-established, recognizable firm bridging the gap between community

needs and the built environment.
Reliance on Politics
• Politics plays a huge factor in the architectural space as
governmental decisions affect the economic and social state of
the country which in turn affects the built environment.
• For example the government’s response to the schools which
are made out of RAAC. This could be a possible business
opportunity for us as they could choose to demolish and
rebuild safe schools for students.
It Takes a Village
• "Our proposal conceptualizes an urban community providing inclusive,
family co-living anchored by affordable childcare."
• Co-housing Scheme which emphasizes the importance of childcare in
sustainable communities
• Features of the scheme include: homes, common spaces, garden,

Sustainability
- The Practice should be actively researching new ways to promote sustainable practices such as new products or materials.

- By researching new and more sustainable methods, the carbon emissions that the business is responsible for can be lowered
and monitored.

- Materials from similar projects can be recycled and reused for the new projects.

- We should aim to design buildings that are self-sustaining and will produce both short and long term positive impacts.
Example of work - Tuntum
Tuntum offers a range of temporary accommodation options to
vulnerable people in Nottingham and Derby to help them
improve the quality of their lives.

Each resident is given an individual needs assessment and will be

assigned a named support worker. The support worker will help
with a range of activities such as:
• Benefit claims and budget management
• Applying for training courses or colleges
• Accessing local health facilities
• Preparing for interviews
• Practical skills such as cooking and minor repairs
• Developing confidence and life skills
• Assisting with the move into independent living
• Signposting to additional floating support where needed
