FLAMENCO

Flamenco is probably the most famous Spanish tradition, but also one that is often misunderstood. Flamenco is not a dance, but sometimes has dances, but
a musical style with much more emphasis on guitar, vocals and rhythm than dancing. In fact, the whole idea of

flamenco dancing is a bit paradoxical: real flamenco is spontaneous, but flamenco dancing requires proper clothing, which means it has to be

planned.
CARNAVAL

In Spain, carnival has been celebrated for many years. Various festivals or celebrations are associated with it.

However, depending on the region, this may vary. The tradition of Spain. For example, Avilés is one of the most important festivals and lasts about a
week, with varied activities such as orchestras, a carnival parade.
THERE IS NO SANTA CLAUS

Traditionally, the Spanish people never celebrated Santa Claus who comes with gifts in December. Instead, the gifts are brought to the children on
January 6 by the Reyes Magos, the three wise men of the east. This means that children in Spain have to wait twelve days longer than us to receive their
much-desired presents, although nowadays, the tradition is starting to change and they receive presents both on Christmas Day and on January 6. de Reyes
Magos Reyes Magos participate more in the parade through the streets of every village and town in Spain on January 5th every year, throwing sweets and
candies to children.
FALLELE DIN VALENCIA

Las Fallas is a celebration of the Valencian Community which, in March, transforms the streets of the city into a museum of street art.Along with the
almost 800 monuments made of wood, cardboard and other materials that fill the streets, the music, gunpowder, bangs, fireworks and traditional clothes
make this celebration unique at an international level. Las Fallas attracts an impressive number of tourists every year. Valencia’s population is said to
double during the holiday.Beyond the economic aspect, an important consequence is the continuity of Valencia traditions. Crafts that would otherwise
have disappeared were preserved through this celebration.
LA FIESTA DE FERMIN

La Fiesta de Fermin is one of the most popular Spanish holidays, becoming a symbol of Spain. La Fiesta de Fermin is celebrated annually in mid-July,
with the running of the bulls making this celebration so famous. Thousands of people take to the streets every morning to run in front of the bulls. The
streets are always full, and the dangerous route ends at the city’s bullring (Plaza de Toros). In addition to the running of the bulls, other events take place
at this celebration, as well as fireworks.
TAMBORRADA

Tamborrada of Donostia festival held every year on January 20 in the city of San Sebastián, Spain. At midnight, in the Konstituzio Plaza in the „Alde
Zaharra/Parte Vieja”, the mayor raises the flag of San Sebastián. The festival lasts for 24 hours. Participants, dressed as cooks and soldiers, march across
the city. The celebration ends at midnight, when people congregate at the Konstituzio Plaza and the city flag is lowered.
